Use recycled materials, conserve resources, save CO₂
Implemented with serial solutions for the automotive industry from K-TECH® and KAPSTO®
Pöppelmann K-TECH® and Pöppelmann KAPSTO® are consistently committed to sustainability with their products: the two divisions of the plastics specialist from Lohne demonstrate that high-quality products can be manufactured from recycled materials, fully meeting the demanding requirements of the automotive industry – and at the same time making a significant contribution to resource conservation and climate protection by saving CO2. Examples of practical implementation are presented by the experts from K-TECH® and KAPSTO® at the International Supplier Fair (IZB) in Wolfsburg.
Pöppelmann K-TECH®: Quickly Available Protective Solutions from Post-Industrial Recyclate
The Pöppelmann K-TECH® division adapts flexibly to the ever-growing demands of its customers and offers a catalog program called Protectors4Connectors, which already brings sustainability into the automotive industry today. Here, customers receive standardized, space-optimized, and commercially available plastic parts for protection and fastening of compact connectors, corrugated tubes, cables, and contacts – and all this even in a resource-efficient manner. At K-TECH®, post-industrial recyclates (PIR) are used, which originate from process-related plastic waste that cannot be directly recycled. To meet the high standards and requirements of its automotive customers, K-TECH® has qualified its own, extremely sorted PIR material, which is 100 percent derived from industrial scrap. Using this recyclate can save up to 85 percent of CO2 emissions compared to new material, depending on the component. Detailed material data sheets provide transparent information about the respective material performance. This results in more sustainable components that meet all technical requirements.
Pöppelmann KAPSTO®: Post-Consumer Recyclate as the New Standard
The Pöppelmann KAPSTO® division specializes in protective caps and plugs that safeguard sensitive components during storage and transport from contamination and damage. Many products from the standard range are also available in recycled materials as standard. KAPSTO® manufactures resource-efficient protective solutions either from 100 percent circular post-consumer recyclate (PCR) or from predominantly PCR plus new material. The post-consumer recyclates are obtained from processing materials from products already in use, such as those collected from household recycling systems. The protective caps and plugs made from PCR-PP or PCR-PE standard thermoplastics, sourced from an existing material cycle, fully meet the requirements of customers in the automotive segment: in terms of sustainability, functional behavior, and temperature and media resistance, they conform to the high KAPSTO® quality standards. The extensive standard program of resource-efficient protective solutions is now being expanded by a further 1,900 items, either made from 100 percent PCR (awarded the Blue Angel environmental label) or predominantly PCR plus new material – making sustainability at KAPSTO® with PCR the new standard.
Initiative PÖPPELMANN blue®: Sustainability as a Strategic Corporate Goal
Two paths, one consistent goal: by using PCR or PIR, the divisions of the Pöppelmann Group are committed to sustainable handling of plastics – for example, with products that meet the needs of demanding industries such as the automotive sector. Greater environmental and climate protection is among the strategic corporate objectives of the plastics specialist: since 2018, the PÖPPELMANN blue® initiative has consolidated all activities of the four divisions that are dedicated to this goal and actively promote true circular economy with their products wherever possible.
