US auditors certify Ziehl-Abegg's highest credibility

The non-profit association AMCA, which oversees standards and certifications for air handling systems worldwide, has certified Ziehl-Abegg that its data on air performance and energy consumption of energy-saving EC fans are consistently credible. The company operates the world's largest combined testing facility for fans at its headquarters in Germany.

"This recognizes our ongoing efforts to ensure reliability and accuracy of measurement data," says CEO Peter Fenkl. The German developer and manufacturer Ziehl-Abegg is a technological leader in aerodynamic and energy-efficient fans. With a high level of in-house production, the southern German company manufactures fans made of steel, aluminum, and plastic. The current energy-saving fans are driven by so-called external rotor motors with integrated control electronics – a technology developed by the company's founder Emil Ziehl.

"When EC fans are installed by our customers, they must be able to rely absolutely on the specified measurement values," explains Fenkl. Because in many installation situations, the individual values for the EC motor and fan are no longer measurable but are lost within the overall system. "Therefore, since 2008, we have operated the world's largest combined testing and measurement facility for fans in Künzelsau," says the CEO. State-of-the-art and precise measurement instruments, along with regular training of staff and periodic testing by external organizations such as AMCA or TÜV, are quite costly. "But in the interest of credible measurement data, we do not cut corners here," emphasizes Fenkl. Naturally, the certification of AC products has also been in place for years, which goes without saying.

Micro Herrmann, the Managing Director of Ziehl-Abegg in the USA, is pleased about the certification of measurement accuracy for his parent company, as his EC products have also been certified by AMCA. "This allows us to promote our products in the USA, where everyone knows AMCA, with this certification." Herrmann adds: "We have had very trusting relationships with our customers for many years – this is now reinforced by the AMCA certification."
