Universal Robots launches UR Studio

Universal Robots (UR), the world’s leading provider of collaborative robots (Cobots) and part of Teradyne Robotics, today introduces UR Studio – a powerful online simulation tool based on PolyScope X, UR’s advanced, open, and AI-capable software platform.

UR Studio will be showcased this week at automatica in Munich at the UR booth (Hall B4, Stand 303). The tool allows customers, partners, and system integrators to create realistic online simulations of their robot cells at a 1:1 scale. Every key function can be simulated – from robot movements, reach, speed, and workflows to cycle time calculations. UR Studio thus enables easy planning of an optimally configured cell – for maximum return on investment even before commissioning.

With UR Studio, users can interact with the entire UR robot portfolio as well as various components such as pallets, machines, workpieces, and end-effectors – including common UR grippers. Elements can be individually configured, and custom components can be imported to precisely replicate the real working environment. This ensures accurate planning, smooth commissioning, and a faster return on investment. At the same time, potential problems can be identified early – reducing downtime and avoiding costly modifications.

Free access, no installation required

UR Studio is available free of charge and runs directly in the desktop browser – no installation is necessary. Access is simply via the UR Studio website. The intuitive user interface and pre-made templates for common applications such as machine tending, screw assembly, palletizing, or pick-and-place enable quick and easy configuration of the virtual robot cell. More application templates will follow regularly.

UR Studio has been specifically developed for close integration with the PolyScope X platform, which is designed from the ground up for simulation and bridges the gap between concept and real operation.

UR Studio is initially available in English, with versions in German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese coming soon.
