Universal Robots expands Munich location
More than 1,000 employees worldwide
Approximately 17 years after its founding, Universal Robots (UR) has onboarded its 1,000th employee. This milestone in the company's history highlights the successful development of the Danish manufacturer of collaborative robots from a startup operation to a leading global provider of cobots.
This is also reflected at Universal Robots' German location in Munich. The company will move into larger office spaces in the newly developing Zielstatt quarter in the south of the Bavarian capital in the first quarter of 2023. This move responds to continued high demand and the significant potential of collaborative robots across all industries.
More space for showroom and training center
The four departments of Universal Robots for the Western Europe region – Sales, Field Application Engineering, Customer Service, and Marketing – which are currently housed in Obersendling, will find a new home in the Zielstatt quarter. A key feature of the new location will be a showroom where visitors can see and program the cobot models in various applications. The training center will also be expanded so that the team can offer a higher number of cobot training sessions.
“We continue to focus on growth. Because we see a high demand from our customers and prospects for cobots to reduce production costs and address the ongoing labor shortage. In the new office, we have more space to work creatively and productively for our customers and users with our ever-growing team. Last but not least, as Universal Robots, we also want to become more visible as an attractive employer at the Munich site,” explains Andrea Alboni, General Manager Western Europe at Universal Robots.
The Zielstatt quarter is a Bauhaus-style campus being developed on the former grounds of the companies Carl Lipp, Zyma, and Novartis Consumer Health, and is well connected to Munich's city center.
