"Unique" ESD floors

In the new plant of Thermoplan AG in Weggis (CH), fully automatic coffee machines are produced on state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. To protect sensitive components, a high-quality ESD floor is used – the electrically conductive coating system StoFloor ESD KU 614 from StoCretec is robust, visually high-quality, and conductive even at low humidity levels.

Thermoplan AG (Weggis/CH) develops and manufactures professional coffee machines for the hospitality industry and commercial use. The family-owned company operates worldwide as a "thoroughly Swiss-made" business: The devices are produced at the headquarters, with around 80 percent of the suppliers based in Switzerland.

In summer 2024, Thermoplan opened its fifth, uniquely named plant, doubling the production capacity in Weggis with additional production areas, logistics facilities, and office spaces, all equipped according to the latest standards. To protect the sensitive device components, the floors in the production and assembly halls – approximately 6,000 square meters – were required to be reliably electrostatically dissipative.

This requirement is met by the electrically conductive coating system StoFloor ESD KU 614 from StoCretec – with excellent conductivity values, even at a relative humidity of 12 percent. For safe walking, the floor was equipped with the slip resistance class R10. An additional sealing is not necessary. This saves time during installation and, alongside the good flow properties and low consumption, contributes to the high cost-effectiveness of the system.

Without fibers, more flexible in color options

The volume-conductive coating system meets all common ESD standards. The system coating StoPox KU 614 is not only functional. The omission of carbon fibers results in a homogeneous appearance and allows for numerous – including light – shades. StoFloor ESD KU 614 is mainly used on mineral substrates in new construction and renovation.

For the approximately 4,000 square meters of corridors and hallways of the new building, a durable, robust floor with a high-quality appearance was planned. The all-rounder StoFloor Industry BB OS is used here as the optimal solution. The resistant floor coating system is low-emission, durable, and radon-proof. With "StoDivers Mattierungsmittel" slip-resistant (class R10), it ensures safety in the bright rooms. The self-leveling epoxy resin system is suitable for foot traffic and transport vehicles alike.
