Trelleborg triples cleanroom capacities in Stein am Rhein

The Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Silcotech AG is investing 10 million CHF (~8.3 million EUR) in Stein am Rhein in the production of life science products. Following the acquisition of the liquid silicone processor by Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, Silcotech's manufacturing capacity for cleanroom products will now be tripled, and the production capacity of the site will be increased by over 30% overall by 2013.

In a new three-story complex, a cleanroom of ISO class 7 (10,000 particles <0.1 µm) and a cleanroom of ISO class 8 (100,000 particles <0.1 µm) will be built according to ISO 13485. This will prepare the site for the company's global sales activities, according to the company. The capacity expansion is also necessary because, for a successful asthma medication of a major German pharmaceutical company, production of four silicone seals was recently ramped up to a seven-day production cycle.
