Trade fairs convinced with practical-oriented impulses
On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, the AM Expo and the Swiss Medtech Expo successfully concluded. 3,800 professionals gathered information from more than 260 exhibitors about innovations in additive manufacturing and medical technology. The two trade fairs provided a platform for exchange, knowledge transfer, and concrete solutions for the industry.
Over two days, more than 260 companies presented themselves at the AM Expo and Swiss Medtech Expo – more than two years ago. The growing and diverse offerings attracted not only more industry visitors but also reflected in the quality of conversations and contacts. Exhibition manager Sara Bussmann is especially pleased with the many positive feedbacks: "The response was very encouraging. The high visitor quality and targeted interest in the topics show how important the two fairs are for the industry." This is confirmed by exhibitor Guido Roccinotti, Country Manager at Zehnder Clean Air Solutions: "We are making important contacts at the Swiss Medtech Expo that we wouldn't otherwise reach. Accordingly, the fair is very important to us."
The two fairs were also successful digitally: Over 12,000 professionals informed themselves online before and during the fair about the exhibitors' innovations. Even after the event, the websites remain important sources of information for news related to additive manufacturing and medical technology.
Concrete application possibilities for additive manufacturing
The AM Expo demonstrated how 3D printing can be economically used as a serial production technology. Numerous exhibitors presented solutions for production challenges, both with additive manufacturing and in combination with conventional manufacturing processes. For example, the company Unlimital showcased how it develops additively manufactured cooling plates with flow-optimized geometries, leading to better cooling performance. "We were able to present our solutions perfectly at the AM Expo. We engaged in discussions with existing and new customers and were able to schedule many follow-up appointments," said Jonas Hirzel, Managing Director of Unlimital AG.
Guidance for the Medtech industry
The Swiss Medtech Expo offered insights into the development and manufacturing of medical technology. Topics such as intelligent manufacturing, innovative materials, and regulatory requirements were central. "The variety of solutions was impressive. The professionals received exciting inputs and new ideas for their daily work," explains Sara Bussmann. Contributing to this were numerous networking opportunities, such as the Wine & Cheese Party, which was highly appreciated.
Knowledge transfer with practical relevance
In two symposia, visitors had the opportunity to learn about current topics. In 50 presentations and panel discussions, developments and challenges in additive manufacturing and medical technology were examined. Topics such as artificial intelligence and sustainability were particularly popular. Presentations on additive manufacturing in medical technology were also well attended. The presentations and panel discussions were complemented by the new format "Meet the Speakers," allowing visitors to exchange ideas with speakers after the sessions. "With the symposia, we aimed not only to inform but also to promote dialogue. The new format intensified this exchange," summarizes Sara Bussmann.
The next AM Expo and Swiss Medtech Expo will take place from September 14 to 15, 2027.
