– Around 20 participants test machines and software during live demo in Waiblingen
– Serialization and aggregation comprehensively: Bosch demonstrates modular Track & Trace solutions

The topic of seamless traceability is more important than ever for pharmaceutical manufacturers – this was demonstrated at an in-house event on Track & Trace by Bosch Packaging Technology on January 31 in Waiblingen. Around 20 participants took the opportunity to exchange ideas with Bosch experts as well as pharmacists about the challenges of ensuring anti-counterfeiting. “Numerous laws and regulations for coded and clearly traceable medication packaging will come into force worldwide in the coming years. Especially globally operating pharmaceutical companies face the difficult task of meeting different serialization standards with their packaging lines,” says Jörg Willburger, Track & Trace expert at Bosch Packaging Technology. “The demand for solutions for aggregation has also noticeably increased. With Bosch’s modular Track & Trace offering, our customers are well equipped for the requirements in both areas and additionally receive tailored software.”

Holistic coverage of serialization and aggregation

At the expert event in Waiblingen, visitors received a comprehensive overview of the Track & Trace topic and could test current Bosch solutions themselves during a live demo: from flexible CPS modules with tamper-evident labeling for security seals, through CPA modules, to CPI software that enables reliable data generation and storage as well as secure data transfer. Bosch offers machines and software as standalone solutions or as a complete package from a single source for all process levels.

“Our Track & Trace technologies are designed to be multi-stage and easily integrated into existing or new production lines,” explains Willburger. “They are robustly built and therefore suitable for harsh production environments. For our software solutions, we focus on security and durability. Our customers can rely on us to continuously optimize and adapt our portfolio. We support our customers long-term and continuously with software and security updates.”

Varied lecture program

The event in Waiblingen was rounded off with several expert presentations. Dr. Bernhard Wittmann from the Austrian pharmaceutical company MoNo chem-pharm Produkte GmbH spoke about serialization and his experiences with implementing a Bosch CPS system, as well as the challenges to overcome. Thomas Brückner, a member of the executive board of securPharm e.V., a leading database for the authenticity verification of medicines in Europe, reported on the current status of already implemented securPharm integrations.

Afterwards, the participants took the opportunity to address their specific questions to the attending experts and to exchange ideas with other pharmacists about the challenges of Track & Trace, as well as to deepen their knowledge. “The event clearly showed that there is great interest among our customers and that many are actively engaged with the topic,” says Willburger. “Furthermore, the positive feedback from the participants demonstrated that knowledge was effectively conveyed by the experts and that Bosch is well positioned with its existing portfolio in the field of Track & Trace. Together with our customers, we will continue to work on expanding our knowledge and portfolio so that counterfeit pharmaceuticals have no chance.”
