The decision to install an industrial rapid-roller door is made by plant planners and architects for various reasons. Before replacing doors in existing buildings, WMF AG established several selection criteria. After careful examination of all parameters, the planners at the Geislingen headquarters settled on rapid-roller doors from Efaflex.

"For the exterior doors, we placed particular emphasis on opening and closing speed. Efaflex is far ahead in this area," explains Timo Kottmann. The engineer is responsible for factory planning. However, speed was not the only important factor. "Right from one of the first doors, the flexibility of the supplier was required. Due to limited installation height, we absolutely needed a clearance height of 3.80 meters. The company was able to offer the best solution to this problem with an oval spiral."

Since there is a lot of forklift traffic in the plant, it was sometimes difficult to retain heat in the production areas with slowly opening doors. Therefore, for example, old exterior doors in the coffee machine manufacturing area were replaced with door chutes.

In the meantime, new buildings have also been equipped with rapid-roller doors from this company. Overall, WMF AG has installed ten spiral and foil doors from the specialist for high-speed industrial doors in recent years at the headquarters. Over the years, the responsible personnel have been convinced by the technology and durability of the doors. The door at the goods receipt area handles 95,000 opening cycles per year without any problems. "We closely examined how the first door works. We were then able to confidently base the purchase of the next doors on that experience," reports Timo Kottmann. Meanwhile, Efaflex has become a system supplier for WMF AG. An in-house repair technician takes care of maintenance and care of the doors. "Of course, having the same design of products is an advantage," he says. "If a technician ever needs to come out, it’s quick and easy." "The service branch in Göppingen is practically nearby," says the factory planner.

The planners demand quality not only from their partners and suppliers. WMF AG enjoys a worldwide reputation for the high quality of its products. Especially the extravagant shape and design of all products is a trademark for WMF AG. "This is reflected in our products and those of our subsidiaries, right up to the external appearance of our production sites and our manufacturing equipment," says Timo Kottmann.
