Topping-out ceremony at the new Schwerin location on July 1, 2026

On July 1st, Vink Chemicals, together with its partner pyropower GmbH, celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the planned biomass coal power plant at the new site in Schwerin. The facility produces biochar as its main product, along with electrical power and heat as by-products, thereby supplying Vink Chemicals' production. The neighboring companies in the Göhrener Tannen industrial park can also receive district heating.

With the topping-out ceremony for the biomass coal plant at Vink Chemicals' new production site in Schwerin, another important milestone has been reached. At this latest production location, Vink Chemicals will synthesize substances for its products and produce their mixtures. These substances are used, among other things, in production for applications in the petrochemical industry as well as for other technical uses. "We are pleased with the current progress of construction, which represents an important step towards the future for us," said Stephan Lauer, Managing Director of Vink Chemicals.

Electricity and waste heat from sustainable raw materials

The biomass coal power plant built by pyropower GmbH is a central component of the entire complex. During the production of the value-added material biochar, by-products such as process steam, heat, and electrical power are generated. The plant is designed to meet a significant portion of its own energy needs for production. Excess electricity is fed into the public grid.

For the production of biochar, Vink Chemicals also uses so-called forest management and sawmill residual wood from the region: it is used as fuel for the biomass steam generator. For the three pyrolysis plants in total, Vink Chemicals additionally utilizes natural residual wood supplied by local companies.
