Universal Robots (UR) introduces a new version of the UR10e, which features an increased payload capacity of 12.5 kilograms. This creates new possibilities for applications such as palletizing, machine loading, and packaging. The price of the robot remains unchanged.

"We at Universal Robots want to continuously improve. To do so, we rely on intensive customer conversations and our ability to recognize and seize important market opportunities. Our customers already use our cobots for a variety of palletizing applications. Over time, they have realized that our UR10e cobot is excellent for handling heavier parts," explains Kim Povlsen, President of Universal Robots. "In response to this demand, we have further developed the UR10e to handle larger payloads, thereby offering new application possibilities to our customers."

Established features with new capabilities

The improved UR10e retains its key advantages. It requires only a small footprint, is intuitively programmable, operates with precise repeatability, and guarantees high quality at all times combined with reliable performance. Thanks to its increased payload, users benefit from additional possibilities:

- The UR10e can now be used for palletizing applications with cartons weighing up to 10 kilograms and a gripper weighing 2.5 kilograms.
- The UR10e is now more versatile for other material handling tasks: including loading and unloading heavier parts during machine feeding and packing heavy objects.
- The increased payload of the UR10e increasingly relieves staff from lifting heavy loads, leading to more ergonomic, healthier working conditions. A real relief for employees, as musculoskeletal disorders are among the most common reasons for sick leave in Germany.*

"Humans are not designed to repeatedly lift heavy objects, but our cobots handle these tasks with ease. By taking over ergonomically challenging activities, our UR cobots increase productivity, improve product quality, and help companies deploy their employees for value-adding, complex tasks — all while making the work environment safer," summarizes Kim Povlsen.

UR partners welcome the new UR10e

The feedback from UR partners is consistently positive: For example, the German company MBO Postpress has integrated the UR10e into its CoBo-Stack stacker robot. "The higher payload of the UR10e makes our MBO CoBo-Stack significantly more profitable for our customers, as it can now be used for larger packages and heavier products — for example, for glued or saddle-stitched catalogs and brochures," reports Sebastian König, Head of Research and Development at MBO Postpress Solutions GmbH.

Furthermore, the UR10e is plug-and-play compatible with hardware and software peripherals from the UR+ ecosystem by Universal Robots. The benefit: users can quickly and easily start with collaborative applications.

"The higher payload of the UR10e makes a big difference in palletizing applications, as users can handle loads weighing up to 12.5 kilograms. And with 25 percent more automation potential, it also means that the UR10e can assist whenever a single line needs to palletize a variety of products with different weights," explains Nicolas Lauzier, Senior Product Manager at Robotiq.

Orders can now be placed worldwide through UR distributors. Delivery of the new UR10e is expected to begin in the second half of June 2021.
