A young company, but anything but a newcomer in the biocide business is Vink Chemicals. Thanks to its specialization in application-specific production of customized biocide formulations for all relevant industries, the company is continuously growing.

With the trading company Vink + Co., they started in 1980 with the procurement and distribution of biocidal active ingredients and formulations. In 2008, the expert team entered contract manufacturing of small batches up to one ton to directly meet specific customer requirements. Additionally, the first own biocide formulations were developed to explore open market niches. Finally, in 2011, VINK CHEMICALS GmbH & Co. KG was founded, which in the following year commissioned a new production facility in Kakenstorf, Lower Saxony. There, batch sizes of up to five tons can be produced and filled. The expansion of production capacity to 20 tons per batch with an appropriate tanker station is in the final construction phase. Vink Chemicals operates in Europe, Africa, and Asia; the newest branch, Vink Chemicals (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., was established in December 2016.

“We are, so to speak, the small, growing tiger in the biocide market,” explains Sales Manager David Zilm. “We can deliver high-performance, high-quality, and customized solutions on short notice. The competence and flexibility of our team, combined with short information and decision-making channels, are unique in the industry,” Zilm summarizes. In addition, there is an all-in-one service that primarily includes laboratory services, research and development, raw material procurement, logistics, as well as regulatory consulting and support.

Technical preservation from a single source

16 specialists in Kakenstorf are responsible for sales, raw material procurement, product development in their own R&D laboratory, and production facilities. The production volume of 12,000 tons per year covers the entire range of known biocides for pot and film preservation of paints and coatings, as well as for water treatment, coolant lubricants, construction chemicals, detergents, disinfectants, or the polymer industry. Vink Chemicals places a particular focus on isothiazolinones (own active ingredient dossiers for CIT/MIT and MIT), which form the basis for many formulations. Overall, the company produces and markets over 100 formulations based on 21 biocidal active ingredients.
