The self-cleaning analysis system

The cleaning system performs the regular cleaning of the measuring cells in an online analysis system independently and fully automatically. The system consists of platform modules, the output module with the control software ME24, and the cleaning module MZ20.

The Bürkert Online Analysis System Type 8905 supports water suppliers in monitoring the most important water parameters and ensuring compliance with all regulations. The drinking water treatment plant operator has a clear overview of the measurement values during daily operations and can contribute to economical and safe drinking water production by optimizing individual treatment steps. From now on, the analysis device can also be cleaned automatically.

Due to the nature of the test water, the sensors of the Bürkert Online Analysis System Type 8905 can become contaminated. This can occur, for example, with lime deposits, iron deposits, or algae growth. If the water being tested forms deposits, it can, for example, impair turbidity measurements. To ensure consistently accurate measurements, the sensors should be cleaned at regular intervals depending on the water quality. For this purpose, Bürkert has now introduced the cleaning module Type MZ20, which can be connected before the measurement system and doses cleaning solutions.

The cleaning is usually performed on a timed basis via the control module. However, the device can also be programmed individually so that cleaning occurs when certain measurement value conditions are met by the connected sensor cubes. The system checks the success of the cleaning based on measurement value changes and performs repetitions if necessary. Commercially available cleaning fluids are used, which are pumped from a supply bottle into the measurement system. All relevant functions such as shutting off the test water, dosing the solution, and signaling the system status via the Bürkert system bus based on CANopen are carried out automatically and independently by the cleaning system.
