It is well known in the industry that Egon Buchta has an exceptional expertise in clean air and its measurement. His social commitment, expressed through annual donations and support campaigns, has probably already become known. Recently, the head of the engineering office & cleanroom service Egon Buchta GmbH in Wannweil was able to combine both in an excellent way. When it came to procuring mobile air filtration units and CO2 sensors for the school's and daycare centers' needs in the town, Buchta stepped in with his expert knowledge and market insights, supporting the municipality in the time-critical procurement process.

High demands – little time

After the Wannweiler municipal council decided to purchase a total of 68 CO2 sensors and 9 mobile air filtration units, there was urgent need for action. After all, the 50% subsidy approved by the state of Baden-Württemberg was only available for a very short period. Additionally, the quite complex requirements of the state's funding guidelines were completely new territory for the head of the main office responsible for the project. He had to quickly become knowledgeable and provide the necessary information for the municipal council decision. Here, Egon Buchta's industry knowledge contributed to transparency.

Egon Buchta quickly recognized that the requirements such as air exchange rates, filter quality, and noise levels are routine for companies in the cleanroom industry, while providers outside the industry might reach their limits here. Therefore, Buchta created a checklist that allowed the municipality to gather the necessary information and evaluate the products to secure the investment or the subsidy.

Hard test during the holidays

Towards the end of the holidays, the test devices provided by various manufacturers were subjected to rigorous testing as part of an intensive and large-scale evaluation. Not surprisingly, almost all had to be eliminated because they did not meet certain criteria. Only the product from Mann + Hummel, which Egon Buchta facilitated, passed the hard test without issues and could be delivered promptly as required. The testing of various CO2 sensors was similar, where Buchta's expertise was also very useful in qualifying and narrowing down the field.

Ultimately, 9 mobile indoor air filtration units from Mann + Hummel, models OurAir SQ 500, TK 850, SQ 2500, and 68 so-called CO2 alarms from Driesen + Kern were procured. These are mainly used in rooms with limited ventilation options and monitor and display air quality via indicator lights or smiley faces. Buchta, whose core business is consulting and expertise in measurement and testing, was able to demonstrate that all requirements of the funding guidelines were fully met.

This ensures that the municipality's investment of approximately €38,000, after receiving the state funding, is definitely sensible and sustainable. And that Buchta, so to speak, being "just around the corner," is not a disadvantage for the upcoming maintenance cycles. "For me, it also means supporting users with expertise and maintenance services," concludes Egon Buchta, wishing the Wannweil students that they can always call: "The air is clean!"
