Sustainability is not a trend, but a holistic approach to corporate responsibility.

The SÜDPACK Group continues to drive forward the implementation of its sustainability strategy for 2030. In the recently published sixth sustainability report for the years 2024 and 2025, the film manufacturer details current projects and initiatives, documents its measurable progress in nearly all impact areas, and thus demonstrates its ongoing commitment to greater sustainability.

Sustainability is not only a central theme for SÜDPACK – it is a strategic building block that integrates circular economy, climate and nature conservation, as well as social responsibility into a genuine impact framework, and embeds it across all areas of the company and beyond its own borders.

The report combines verified materiality, concrete goals, and KPIs with reliable progress data. This makes SÜDPACK’s sustainability efforts increasingly measurable and controllable. During the reporting period, the company further operationalized its strategy with clear responsibilities and targets, and in some cases expanded it to the entire group. The sustainability department is directly subordinate to the management. This allows new topics to be prioritized more quickly and the strategy to be continuously developed.

Products & Innovations

A focus is on monomaterial films based on PP and PE. Investments in the Erolzheim site as well as in new extrusion lines support the expansion of corresponding capacities. The share of recycling-compatible designed films in sales is currently 27%. At the same time, the switch to modern mono-structures remains cautious given the difficult economic situation in Germany among manufacturers and retailers.

Impulses are also provided by PPWR and CSRD, which intensify exchanges along the value chain. New developments include, among others, PE bag solutions from the CarbonLite® product family, the NutriGuard® mono-material blister concept for dietary supplements, and further developed high-performance PP films. Additional goals regarding design for recycling, PCR content, and CO2e intensity have been defined and are being implemented step by step.

Climate & Nature Conservation

SÜDPACK views climate and nature conservation as a task for future generations, which is crucial for quality of life, economic stability, and prosperity of future societies. At all production sites, the company is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, use energy more efficiently, and promote climate-friendly solutions along the value chain.
The Near-Term targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) provide the framework for ambitious projects. They aim for a total reduction of direct and energy-related emissions from 2021 to 2030 by 76%. By 2025, this target has already been nearly achieved at 96%.

Progress in Scope 3 is not as significant but still noteworthy. Especially considering that emissions from purchased goods and services as well as disposal at end-of-life account for 85%. Nonetheless, 64% of the Near-Term reduction target for 2030 has already been realized. This target includes a 25% reduction in indirect emissions in the category “purchased goods and services”.

In 2025, 92% of the group's electricity came from renewable sources. At the same time, energy consumption decreased by 2.6% compared to 2024 and by a total of 19% compared to the base year 2021.

Water and biodiversity are further points that have become increasingly important at SÜDPACK. Although water has relatively low relevance due to the company's low consumption, the topic will be more strategically anchored in the future together with the closely linked area of biodiversity.

Deepening Supply Chain Data

Transparency in the supply chain is also increasing. The supply chain concept is aligned with the materiality analysis and the requirements of SA8000. Progress in sustainability ratings and PCF/LCA data of suppliers is becoming more measurable: currently, 78% of procurement volume is covered by a sustainability rating.

In the EcoVadis rating, SÜDPACK achieved a total of 86 out of 100 points in 2025 and remains among the top 1% of evaluated companies. Significant improvements have been made in the areas of ethics and sustainable procurement. Environment and labor and human rights remained at a high level.
The average EcoVadis score of listed suppliers also developed positively. More than 95% now achieve at least 45 points. By 2030, 90% of the supplier volume should be evaluated via EcoVadis or an equivalent system.
