Students win the "VIP3000 Award" with their factory planning
With their concept design of a factory for the production of 800 million tablets per year, the students Peter Röckinger, Kathrin Langer, Franziska Mannelli, and Niklas Zabel secured the €500 "VIP3000-Award" from the Association of Pharmaceutical Construction Interest Group.
In total, three teams competed before the expert jury with their concepts for production facilities — all studying at the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences in the Master’s program in Facility and Process Design. A second team planned a location for the production of tonics with a volume of 50 million bottles per year; the third team focused on planning a manufacturing plant for 14 different finished buffers.
In January, the students presented their project work in front of their classmates, Prof. Dr. Enrico Grothe, as well as Ralf Stahl, Head of the Cleanroom Business Unit at KEMMLIT Bauelemente GmbH and a board member of VIP 3000. One week later, the winners were announced.
Enrico Grothe and Ralf Stahl praised the winning team. "They convinced us with their concept and recognized the essentials of factory planning," said Ralf Stahl at the online award ceremony.
