Strong premiere of the new trade fair LABVOLUTION

Those who want to know what laboratories will look like in the future should visit LABVOLUTION in Hanover from October 6 to 8. The new trade fair features a world premiere: In Hall 9, the laboratory of tomorrow is already becoming a reality today. The smartLAB presents a vision of the intelligent laboratory of the future. And this is what it looks like: Robots support the work, all devices are interconnected, communication and documentation are handled via tablets and smart glasses. The tables are not rectangular as usual – individual hexagonal furniture modules can be flexibly assembled into new surfaces again and again.

With the smartLAB, LABVOLUTION demonstrates the impact of the megatrends of digitization and automation on laboratories in both research and industry. "The smartLAB is an extraordinary special exhibition," says Dr. Jochen Köckler, a member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Messe AG. "Experts from all over Germany have come together here to create a laboratory of the future that has never existed before." Twelve members from research institutions and industrial companies have pooled their expertise in a working group for over a year to develop the smartLAB project. The Institute of Technical Chemistry at Leibniz University Hannover is leading the project. Now, during the fair, the smartLAB will showcase what it can do to the public for the first time. Visitors will experience various applications from everyday laboratory work in daily live shows.

Even before the start of LABVOLUTION, the smartLAB has already attracted attention within professional circles. But the organizers from Deutsche Messe AG are not only satisfied because of this. LABVOLUTION is starting strong right from its premiere – despite a competitive situation in this year's trade fair calendar. "We see great potential in LABVOLUTION," explains Köckler. "The market for a laboratory technology fair in northern Europe at the conveniently located Hannover is there. We are seizing this opportunity and are now consistently developing the new trade fair." LABVOLUTION will be held parallel to the already established BIOTECHNICA and targets laboratory customers from sectors such as chemistry, pharmaceuticals, environmental technology, medical technology, quality control, and the food industry. At the same time, the goal is to position the fair as a discussion platform for all questions concerning the future of laboratories in the market. The desire for a lively exchange, including controversial debates, is demonstrated by a panel discussion as part of the special exhibition smartLAB this year. Its title: "The laboratory of the future – a blessing for users?!"

LABVOLUTION and BIOTECHNICA 2015

From October 6 to 8, 2015, Deutsche Messe AG will host the two fairs LABVOLUTION and BIOTECHNICA for the first time simultaneously at the Hannover exhibition grounds. LABVOLUTION celebrates its premiere in 2015. The new trade fair consolidates the laboratory technology offerings previously presented at BIOTECHNICA in its own event and expands it for key sectors such as chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, plastics, material development and recycling, cosmetics, medical technology, environmental technology, and nutrition. The product portfolio of the new laboratory technology fair includes laboratory infrastructure, analytics, applications and processes, chemicals, reagents, consumables and consumer goods, as well as specialized services. BIOTECHNICA is established as Europe's leading industry meeting point for biotechnology and life sciences. It covers the entire value chain of biotechnology – from basic research to finished product. Both fairs share a common admission price.
