Straighter than the standard
STAINLESS FRÜCHTL demonstrates a globally unique measurement of straightness for rod material
With a new measurement method, STAINLESS FRÜCHTL offers a service that delivers uniquely accurate results worldwide. The stainless steel dealer can measure the straightness and roundness of rod material with unprecedented precision. And this over a length of more than four meters. The recorded values of the unique measuring machine are finer and more precise than the standard requires. They ensure users safe processing processes. This has a significant impact on the tools.
"One of our customers now has the certainty that the delivered goods also meet their requirements, thanks to our measurement results," reports Wolfgang Sachsenmaier, Managing Director of STAINLESS FRÜCHTL GmbH in Esslingen. The stainless steel dealer has developed a new measurement method that assesses the straightness and roundness of rod material much more comprehensively than previously possible. The results are significantly more extensive, precise, and informative than what the standards prescribe.
Radial rotating probe measurement provides unique results
Through radial rotating probe measurements, the process determines the straightness of rod material with diameters from three to 30 millimeters over a length of up to four and a half meters, with an accuracy of 0.1 mm per meter. Additionally, the machine measures roundness deviations with an accuracy of 1 µm and records the results. The company's unique measuring machine for this purpose was developed and built in collaboration with partners. The fact that such measurement results are now available for the first time has also impressed a major customer in the pneumatic sector. STAINLESS FRÜCHTL can thus prove that the customer receives raw material of a quality that meets their standards and requirements for manufacturing pneumatic cylinders.
The machine records the results, and the Esslingen team provides the protocol along with the goods to their customers. The customers benefit in multiple ways from the inspected rod material. Processors of the inspected goods report increased productivity in long-turning processes on corresponding machines. Because straight bars wear tools significantly less than bars with imbalance. The service life increases dramatically. Surface measurements with long travel distances and spectral analyses as part of material testing complement the services with which STAINLESS FRÜCHTL aims to continue impressing customers in the future.
