Stainless steel and HPL in combination – Optimized furnishings for a hospital pharmacy

As part of the redesign of the pharmacy at SRH Central Clinic Suhl, which has 25 specialized departments and a wide range of highly specialized centers, making it one of Thuringia's largest hospitals, Friedrich Sailer GmbH equipped various personnel and material sluices as well as rooms for cytostatic and sterilization production with HPL and stainless steel facilities.

In the personnel sluices up to GMP C, HPL facilities were used. In addition to sufficient storage space for material inventory, the integration of the exhaust air into the back wall of the cabinet was required to optimize the use of available space. Foldable Sit-over benches were integrated to ensure smooth material flow of mobile containers between the different rooms.

The personnel sluice between GMP C and B was implemented in stainless steel to meet the necessary cleaning processes and cleanroom requirements. For the version in HPL, withdrawal cabinets with Plexiglas inserts were used.

The various rooms for the preparation and production of sterile products and cytostatics were equipped with facilities from Friedrich Sailer GmbH's Hygienic Design program. This allows the operator to benefit from absolutely safe and easy-to-clean tables, rinses, and cabinets. The fully enclosed, laser-welded construction ensures that product and process risks are eliminated through dead spaces and areas that are difficult to clean or impossible to clean.

By combining stainless steel equipment with HPL countertops, the properties of both materials were optimally matched for the customer's applications.
