SS 20.415 LED and SS 20.515 LED – SCHMIDT® Flow Sensors for Cleanroom Use

Two proven professionals for laminar flow monitoring and control – highly precise and quickly installed. The two SCHMIDT® flow sensors are already established in the market, and that remains unchanged.

The two flow sensors have been optimized and significant market requirements successfully implemented. The expanded functionalities make plant operation even safer, simpler, and more intuitive.

For laminar flow monitoring and control, users repeatedly demand three important functions:

- Operational status indicator visible directly on the sensor.
- Monitoring of the standard-compliant permissible velocity range of 0.45 m/s ±20% with optical signaling directly on the sensor (LF status indicator).
- Serial number of the sensor visible directly on the sensor, even when installed.

With the revision of the existing flow sensors, SCHMIDT Technology successfully implemented all three customer requirements. The two improved variants with the suffix “LED” now feature an LED ring that visualizes the respective sensor status. The operational status indicator has been generally implemented, and the LF status indicator is available as an optional order feature, as this function is not always needed.

The indicator colors stand for the following operating states:

- Green continuous light: sensor functioning properly (iO)
- Red flashing: sensor defective (niO)
- Red continuous light: analog output incorrectly connected (simplified commissioning)
- Orange flashing: measurement value outside monitoring window of 0.45 m/s ±20% (optional order)

This allows cleanroom operators to “see at a glance” to ensure safe operation. Additionally, the serial number has been relocated to a constantly visible location so that plant operators can directly assign the sensor to their documentation during maintenance work, without having to remove the sensor.
