Spetec celebrates its 35th company anniversary

The beginning was difficult, and the company started with service and spare parts sales for commercial ICP spectrometers in 1987 as a one-man operation with the founder Friedhelm Rickert.

An ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) spectrometer is an analytical device used to determine toxic elements in liquids, such as in the analysis of mercury, arsenic, or lead in drinking and surface waters or wastewater. As early as 1988, a product range was developed for the laboratory technology division using peristaltic pumps as standalone devices. However, the success only came through specialization in OEM versions. These pumps are used as sample dosing components in ICP spectrometers. Today, Spetec GmbH has developed into a global market leader for OEM customers.

In 1999, another successful business area was added in the field of cleanroom technology, in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation in Stuttgart. Initially, small mobile units based on laminar flow systems were in demand, especially for analytical applications. This product range quickly expanded to larger units, so that today entire cleanrooms are planned, manufactured, and assembled. These are needed in all industrial sectors (analytical laboratories, microstructure technology, microelectronics, optics, packaging of pharmaceutical products, injection molding plants) where dust particles must be kept away from products or devices, e.g., in laser safety systems. In collaboration with customers, Spetec develops a complete strategic overall concept consisting of a series of individual measures, such as cleaning the room air with suitable filtration systems, wearing appropriate protective clothing, optimizing workflows, and directly shielding products from all particles, including those emitted by employees. This includes staff training as well as quality control of the room air through regular particle count measurements.

Spetec GmbH is ISO 9001 certified. The recent appointment of Fabian Holzner and Ruth Rickert-Kreikemeier to the management has marked the transition to the second generation.

Since its founding, Spetec GmbH has grown rapidly, from a one-man operation to a company with approximately 80 employees. The immense success, the rapidly increasing number of employees, and the consistently high demand are the reasons why a new company building with about 2,500 sqm of production and office space as well as storage space on a roughly 9,000 sqm site in the industrial area of Erding was put into operation in 2022. The same year marked the 35th anniversary of the company's founding. Looking back, these 35 years have been characterized by innovation, expansion, and success. In the future, Spetec GmbH aims to continue expanding and ensuring dust-free air.
