The interdisciplinary conference "Plastics meet Electronics" will take place from January 29 to 30, 2020, in Leipzig. The organizer is the Plastics Center in Leipzig (KUZ) together with the partner Silicon Saxony e.V.

Electrical engineering/electronics (EuE) is now an integral part of our lives. Examples include applications in IT technology, medical technology, household appliances, power tools, as well as all energy technology and (e)mobility. Electrification is a megatrend that makes our lives easier.

Plastics play an important role in the development and manufacture of many EuE products. The technical conference will address the specific challenges of using plastics in various EuE applications, such as IT and displays, microelectronics and sensor technology, connectors, and (e)mobility.

Applications and exchange are the focus

"The aim of the event is to discuss with the participants multifaceted plastic engineering solutions for EuE — from compounds, through injection molding machines and manufacturing processes, to successful and often complex applications," emphasizes Dr. Peter Bloß, Managing Director of KUZ. The diverse lecture program offers companies from the plastics and EuE sectors high-quality technical input and numerous opportunities for exchange of ideas. Speakers from renowned companies will provide exciting insights into their work based on best practice solutions, highlighting potentials and challenges.

Alongside the lecture series, companies and research institutions have the opportunity to present themselves as exhibitors and engage in intensive conversations with visitors. In addition to the accompanying trade exhibition, various excursions to renowned industrial companies and HTWK in Leipzig will be available to trade visitors on the first day of the event. An evening event with an engaging lecture on Generation Y, focusing on recruiting young professionals and their needs, as well as the subsequent get-together at the buffet, will round off the event.
