Spartan™ Learning Dosimeter for Occupational Safety

The Spartan™ Model 730 from Larson Davis is a compact dosimeter for assessing workplace noise and calculating noise exposure. The device meets the requirements of IEC 61252 and is suitable for noise measurements according to ISO 9612. The device is also available in a intrinsically safe version (ATEX, IECEx), Model 730IS, allowing measurements in explosive environments, such as in the petrochemical or pharmaceutical industries.

The device, measuring only 85 x 54 x 39 mm and with an IP65 protection rating, weighs just 112 grams. The lithium-ion battery is charged wirelessly via a Qi charger or through the USB interface and lasts approximately 40 hours. Communication is via Bluetooth. The internal memory has a capacity of 8 GB and allows recording of raw data. All device settings and the start of noise recording are managed with the Larson Davis Atlas™ app, available for iOS™ and Android™, on a smartphone or tablet.

For a measurement campaign, the dosimeter is attached at shoulder height to the employee's clothing. Noise data are immediately available via Bluetooth in the Atlas™ app after starting the measurement and are automatically transferred to the display/evaluation device after stopping the recording. The app manages the measurement data, creates reports, and sends them via email. In addition to noise events, movements and shocks are also recorded. Optional octave filters are available to select the appropriate hearing protection.
