Sonopower 3S – the innovative combination of power, flexibility, and intelligence

The Sonopower 3S, capable of Industrie 4.0-compatible operation and available as a single-, dual-, and multi-frequency device with 3,000 or 2,000 watts of power, opens up new perspectives in the construction of cleaning systems.

The optional Profinet interface integrated into the generator enables the control and documentation of ultrasound-specific process parameters as well as integration into higher-level control systems.

With the fourth generation of the forward-looking ultrasound generator Sonopower 3S, Weber Ultrasonics makes a significant contribution to efficiently meeting the growing requirements for component cleaning. This is achieved through innovative features, such as combined amplitude and frequency modulation as well as Sonoscan, along with the optional second transducer connection and the Profinet interface. The generator series is available as single-, dual-, and multi-frequency variants with 25 to 132 kHz and 3,000 or 2,000 watts of power.

Increasing demands for particulate and film cleanliness, changing tasks due to ongoing miniaturization, electromobility, and novel materials for lightweight solutions pose new challenges for both manufacturers and operators of cleaning systems. The requirement to integrate cleaning processes into Industry 4.0 manufacturing and to document them seamlessly is also becoming more common. Additionally, the manufacturing step of part cleaning must be quick and cost-efficient to remain competitive in the global market. All of this can only be achieved with highly flexible, application-appropriate, and economical cleaning solutions in everyday production. The use of ultrasound plays an increasingly important role in this context.

Next-generation ultrasound technology

The fourth generation of the powerful, highly flexible, and intelligent generator series Sonopower 3S from Weber Ultrasonics AG, a technology leader in ultrasound components and solutions, is designed to meet these requirements and trends with a future-oriented approach. When combined with appropriate ultrasound transducers, the generators, available as single-, dual-, and multi-frequency devices with 3,000 or 2,000 watts of power, open up new perspectives in the construction of inline immersion and chamber cleaning systems – even under vacuum. This allows cleaning tasks that require two or more ultrasound frequencies, which previously necessitated multiple cleaning systems, to be performed economically and space-saving within a single system. The frequencies from 25 to 132 kHz enable a very broad application spectrum, from coarse to fine and ultra-fine cleaning. An additional advantage of the generators is their 19" rack-mount capability. Up to ten devices can be integrated into a standard control cabinet, providing a maximum power of 30,000 watts.

Faster and more efficient for better cleaning results

Through various innovative features, the new 3S series enables higher process reliability and accelerated cleaning processes with improved results. This includes, for example, combined frequency and amplitude modulation. Not only does this ensure homogeneous sound fields, but it also prevents so-called "standing waves." The unrivaled feature additionally ensures that the desired power reaches the cleaning or rinsing bath and even achieves peak performances beyond that. The Sonoscan also contributes to consistent acoustic power, which is essential for stable cleaning processes with reproducible results. It automatically determines the operating frequency before sound emission and adjusts the system accordingly. During the process, the frequency is continuously monitored and automatically adapted. This ensures optimal performance even under changing operating conditions, such as temperature fluctuations, or when switching between cleaning and rinsing media. Adjustments, including frequency changes, can be made during operation without interruptions to the cleaning process. Another feature of the Sonopower 3S is automatic detection and adjustment of the mains voltage, ensuring continued operation even with unstable power grids or fluctuations caused by the addition or removal of consumers, maintaining consistent performance.

Second transducer connection – one generator for two processes

A novelty with the Sonopower 3S is the ability to equip the generator with a second transducer connection. This allows two identical or different processes, such as cleaning and rinsing in two tanks with different media, to be performed with just one generator. This eliminates the need for a second generator, which is usually required in such cases, thereby contributing to increased cost-effectiveness in cleaning.

Designed for Industry 4.0

An optional Profinet interface integrated into the generator enables precise control and documentation of ultrasound-specific process parameters during cleaning. This also makes the Sonopower 3S Industry 4.0-compatible.

With a maximum power of 3,000 watts, the fourth-generation Sonopower 3S generators are available as standard in single-frequency variants at 25, 40, and 50 kHz. The dual-frequency devices (40/80 kHz, 40/132 kHz, and 80/132 kHz) as well as the multi-frequency version (40/80/132 kHz) offer twice the power, at 2,000 watts, compared to previous models.
