Solemn groundbreaking ceremony

With the ceremonial groundbreaking attended by representatives from politics and business, the start signal was given on Tuesday for the new construction.

Starting in summer 2022, 120 employees of ebm-papst will work in the 1.6-hectare building on air technology applications.

Already three years ago, the 12-hectare plot of land was acquired, on which the new plant in Telford, TN, is now being built.

With a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony, accompanied by representatives from politics and business, ebm-papst has begun construction of a new manufacturing plant near the current US location in Johnson City. The company is investing around 12 million euros in the new building.

Already three years ago, the 12-hectare plot of land was acquired, on which the new plant in Telford, TN, is now being built. Since 2019, the world market leader for fans and motors has been manufacturing fans for cooling, climate, and ventilation applications in the city in the US state of Tennessee. The new building is to be 1.6 hectares in size. From summer 2022, 120 employees will work here, primarily on fan and motor production.

Mark Shiring, Managing Director of ebm-papst USA: "In our 40th anniversary year, this groundbreaking is a great milestone. With the expanded capabilities and capacities, we can guarantee our customers even faster delivery times in the future. Additionally, with the new production plant, as an innovation leader especially for energy-efficient fan solutions, we are responding to market growth in North America. Furthermore, the new plant complements the existing production site in Johnson City and the US headquarters in Farmington. At the same time, the site also offers opportunities for further growth."

Thomas Wagner, CEO of the ebm-papst Group, also participated in the groundbreaking and emphasizes the importance of the new production facility in the USA for the corporate group: "ebm-papst has a long tradition in the American market. Since 1980, we have been developing, producing, and selling fans and motors for the North American market from Farmington. With the expansion of our business activities in Johnson City, we are further advancing our 'local for local' internationalization strategy."

The ebm-papst group has been pursuing a strategy of strong independence for its locations in China and the USA for years. The goal is to serve customers more effectively on-site and to become less dependent on political influences.
