SMC Germany is growing – ecological, efficient, innovative
SMC combines warehouse and production on 17,000 square meters at the headquarters in Egelsbach
With a new construction project, SMC Germany is expanding at its headquarters in Egelsbach near Frankfurt am Main. "We are continuing a long-standing success story," says Ralf Laber, Managing Director of SMC Germany, at the groundbreaking ceremony on September 29. The project, located very close to the company headquarters, is expected to be completed by November 2022.
More efficiency and faster logistics
In the existing buildings at the headquarters of the leading manufacturer, partner, and solution provider for pneumatic and electrical automation solutions on Boschring, there was little space left for further growth. "That's why we decided on extensive new construction," explains Ralf Laber. In the 17,000-square-meter new building, manufacturing and assembly will expand in the future. At the same time, more capacity for innovation is being created. Pascal Borusiak, Director of Business Operations at SMC: "Through the design and construction of the new buildings, production, warehousing, and distribution are connected. This will save internal travel distances and resources, making us more productive and enabling us to serve our customers faster."
A sustainable milestone for the region
"The Egelsbach site is ideal for us with its excellent location and transportation connections," says Ralf Laber. "That’s also why we have grown organically and very successfully here over the past decades." Innovation and meaningful measures to increase efficiency and sustainability were central to the planning of the new building. Pascal Borusiak: "We have already paid attention to sustainable construction and operation during the concept phase. This applies to the design as well as the materials used and the building technology, as well as nature in the outdoor area and on the roof of the complex. Inside, as a market leader in automation technology, we leverage our expertise in energy saving and digitalization. This way, we will measurably reduce our CO2 consumption." Beyond the new building, SMC Germany has long-term plans for the site, as Ralf Laber emphasizes: "The large plot of land offers us plenty of space, and further concepts are in development. Our home is and remains Egelsbach."
