Impression: Seminar "Micro-injection molding" in the MiKA-Technikum of KUZ

Under the motto "Small parts, big impact," the Micro Injection Molding Seminar took place once again on November 16, 2017, at KUZ. With fifteen interested participants from industry, the challenges in manufacturing micro components through micro injection molding were discussed. The two speakers, Dr. Gabor Jüttner and Steffen Jacob, provided insights into the requirements of micro component manufacturing. Covering considerations such as component design with adjusted mold fill ratios, the use of suitable machine and tool technology, and manufacturing in the necessary production environment, the workshop offered a brief overview of the possibilities for producing plastic micro parts. Special procedures, such as Liquid Injection Molding (LIM) for manufacturing silicone micro parts, Powder Injection Molding (PIM) for ceramic and metal micro parts, as well as 2K micro injection molding and micro injection blow molding, were also clearly explained. In the subsequent workshop at the MiKA technical center, the knowledge imparted was practically reinforced through example productions on various micro injection molding machines. Engaging discussions between participants and speakers on various manufacturing requirements concluded the seminar on an informative and eventful afternoon.
