SKINTEC: When innovation meets sustainability
Cleanroom, Laboratory, Production or ESD areas – in technically sensitive work environments, uncompromising standards apply. Hygiene, safety, ergonomics, and durability are just as crucial as sustainability and efficiency. With Skintec, Bimos presents an innovative covering material that combines all these requirements into one solution – developed together with the new work chair TEXON.
A new material generation for demanding work environments
Skintec was developed to meet the increasing demands of the modern working world – robustness, hygiene, conductivity, and comfort are becoming ever more important. It is not just a new surface material – Skintec is a system component for a future-proof, responsible, and sustainable setup in sensitive high-tech areas. The material combines all key properties in an ideal way and offers a high-performance solution for demanding workspaces:
– Easy to clean, washable, and resistant to all common disinfectants
– Seamless hygienic design – smooth, closed surfaces for maximum cleanability
– Non-slip & form-stable – even under continuous load.
– Conductive in all colors – even light variants meet the highest ESD requirements. This is unique on the market, as so far only dark materials have been conductive.
– Outstanding seating comfort – thanks to a softly padded foam core.
– Resistant & durable – ideal for continuous use under demanding conditions.
– Fire tested according to DIN EN 1021-1 and -2 – for maximum safety.
– Free from environmentally harmful substances – no phthalates, no PVC, no plasticizers.
– Attractive aesthetics – with high-quality haptics and appearance
Sustainability starts with the material
Skintec stands not only for technological innovation – but also for a new responsibility in manufacturing. The covering material is produced with a water-driven foam system that completely replaces the typical halogenated blowing agents, resulting in approximately 20–25% CO₂eq savings during production. Due to a lower density, there is a 35% material saving, which leads to fewer resources and thus less waste. Ultimately, reduced transport weight additionally lowers emissions.
This material innovation was developed in-house at Bimos and is unique and new in the industry. Skintec is fully manufactured at the main site in Meßstetten-Tieringen – in the Swabian Alps. State-of-the-art manufacturing processes and robot-assisted technologies are used to ensure consistently high quality and maximum process security. The production of Skintec exemplifies Bimos’ commitment to combining technological innovation and sustainable responsibility under one roof – a true "Made in Germany" product.
Skintec was specifically developed for the new work chair TEXON – the chair for demanding high-tech workplaces of the future. With innovative materials, thoughtful hygienic design, and maximum seating comfort, TEXON is prepared for the increasing demands of an increasingly complex working environment. Whether cleanroom, ESD area, laboratory, or production – TEXON sets new standards in demanding work environments and elevates the requirements for ergonomics, safety, and modern design to a new level.
With Skintec and TEXON, Bimos, as a leading manufacturer of industrial and laboratory chairs, demonstrates how modern seating solutions can meet the highest technical requirements while actively contributing to greater sustainability.
