SKF at COMPAMED / MEDICA: New Miniature Profile Rail Guide LLS for Laboratory Automation
At the Düsseldorf COMPAMED and the parallel MEDICA, SKF Linear Systems GmbH will present the miniature profile rail guide LLS for the first time. The new series is extremely compact and offers high smoothness of operation. With its low noise level and long service life, it provides an ideal solution for laboratory equipment and clinical applications.
SKF has incorporated not only decades of experience in medical technology but also the latest insights from research and development into the new miniature profile rail guides of the LLS series. The result is a state-of-the-art solution that meets the ever-increasing demands on linear guidance technology – especially regarding the service life and robustness of the products (including low installation and maintenance costs) as well as the precision of the movement sequences.
Maximum availability and minimal maintenance effort are particularly important in fully automatic applications such as sample changers, chemical analysis devices, or dental laboratory equipment. To this end, SKF factory-lubricates the LLS guide carriages so that the supplied lubricant reservoir ensures optimal long-term lubrication of the entire linear guide system. An improved sealing design also contributes to this, reliably retaining the lubricant within the carriage and effectively excluding contaminants. Additionally, an optimized ball circulation ensures particularly “material-friendly” smooth operation. Overall, the new solution features reduced friction, which in turn increases positioning accuracy – even at speeds of up to 5 m/s and accelerations of up to 140 m/s².
Furthermore, the innovative, robust ball holder allows for extremely reliable and quick assembly. Individual components such as the carriage and guide rails are also optionally available as exchange variants. In any case, the components are made from corrosion-resistant steel and comply with ISO 12090-2.
The new LLS series is available in sizes 7, 9, and 12, with both standard and long carriage types. Their rails are available in various mounting configurations up to a length of 1,000 mm. Custom designs for even easier integration (including larger rail lengths) are also offered by SKF upon request.
SKF will showcase these and other efficiency-enhancing solutions for medical technology from November 13 to 16, 2017, at COMPAMED and MEDICA in Düsseldorf. Visitors to the “dual trade fair” will find SKF in Hall 8b at Stand N13.
