SINDEX 2018: Welcome to the digital future with Federal Councillor Schneider-Ammann

From August 28 to 30, SINDEX will enter its fourth edition: This year, the largest Swiss trade fair for industrial automation is under the motto "Welcome to the Digital Future". High-profile visitors, including Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann, have already announced their attendance at the industry summit.

The preparations for Switzerland's leading technology trade fair are in full swing. At the Swiss Industry Summit, from August 28 to 30, 2018, leading manufacturers from the fields of automation, electrical engineering, fluid technology, and robotics will present their innovations. This year, the theme "Welcome to the Digital Future" is especially in focus. At the start of the fair, Economy Minister Johann Schneider-Ammann will present this year's SINDEX Innovation Award.

Exciting special exhibitions and keynote speeches

At every event, the special exhibitions at SINDEX are a particular crowd puller. This year, under the main theme "Welcome to the Digital Future," the following technologies and practical examples will be demonstrated: augmented and virtual reality in industry, a service robotics example in healthcare, and the Future Work Lab, which is being presented exclusively and for the first time in Switzerland by the Fraunhofer Institute. Here, experts will show what digitized workplaces will look like in the future industry. Additionally, for the first time, the Exhibition 4.0 will be held. Visitors will try out machines and training cells used as training tools in automation. Among the leading manufacturers present are Bosch Rexroth, Siemens, SMC, and Festo. Within this special exhibition, the "Grand Prix Automatiker" competition will take place again, where the best in the field compete. The Automation Champion contest will be held for the third time at SINDEX.

On all three days of the fair, the forum will feature keynote speeches on various topics. Industry visitors will gain a well-founded insight and answers on key themes such as Companies 2025, ICT of the Future, and People at the Center.

Change in trade fair management

There will be a change in leadership of SINDEX effective April 1, 2018: The current trade fair director, Douglas Krebs, will leave BERNEXPO GROUPE and will be temporarily replaced by Alain Caboussat. He has been working at BERNEXPO GROUPE for several years and is the trade fair director of the Construction Machinery Fair and Suisse Public, the largest trade fair for the public sector. He thus has extensive experience in the trade fair industry. "I am very pleased to be able to oversee Switzerland's leading trade fair for industrial automation with SINDEX from now on and to put my expertise at the service of this leading platform," explains Alain Caboussat.
