With Vinkocide BB WM, Vink Chemicals has developed a biocide formulation that keeps cutting fluids for machine tools free from mold and bacterial contamination over a long period. Vinkocide BB WM is easy to handle and complies with strict biocide regulations.

In industrial manufacturing, liquid cutting fluids are indispensable for the operation of modern machine tools such as CNC milling machines. To maintain their properties in applications, these emulsions must be protected against mold, yeast, and bacterial growth. Vinkocide BB WM is a newly developed biocide product for the post-preservation of cutting fluids used in the metalworking industry. Vinkocide BB WM is highly effective against molds and yeasts and demonstrates excellent water solubility and self-emulsification thanks to an innovative formulation.

Effective post-preservation is becoming increasingly important

Especially in the EU, recent changes in requirements for preservatives, including in the area of post-preservation of cutting fluids in the metalworking industry (tankside treatment), have significantly restricted the range of biocidal active substances. The focus is on protecting humans and the environment. Many manufacturers of cutting fluid concentrates now avoid using biocides to prevent labeling their concentrates. Therefore, effective post-preservation is all the more important.

To minimize the potential range of microorganisms, it has proven effective to increase the pH value of the entire cutting fluid circuit. This now alkaline system favors fewer microbial contaminations, but also introduces new variants of microbiological contamination, especially by molds and yeasts. Additionally, the high pH reduces the options of the still-approved biocidal active substances. With the special formulation of Vinkocide BB WM, Vink Chemicals has managed to circumvent the typical disadvantages associated with the use of the three common active substances (sodium pyrithione, IPBC, or BBIT). The new formulation uses the active ingredient BBIT, is non-reactive with metals, and remains application-stable at pH values of 7–12 and high temperatures for a long time.

Vinkocide BB WM has excellent water solubility and is easy to handle by direct tank-side addition. At the recommended application concentration, no labeling requirements exist.
