The new SCHMIDT Flow Sensor SS 20.415 is a specialized sensor for laminar flow monitoring in cleanroom technology systems. It is a rod-shaped flow probe based on a thermal anemometer that can measure both the flow velocity and flow direction of air and gases. The only 9 mm thin stainless steel sensor tube houses not only the sensing element but also highly integrated electronics based on a microprocessor. The sensor is robustly constructed; the measurement element is reliably protected against mechanical stress by an aerodynamic flow chamber. In addition to the analog output, the sensor features a directional and a threshold output. The SS 20.415 is equipped with the coveted SCHMIDT Cleanroom Quick-Assembly System. Behind this is a stainless steel mounting adapter that can be optionally installed in the wall or ceiling. The sensor is screwed into this mounting adapter and then automatically assumes the correct position relative to the filter ceiling. Schmidt supplies this mounting adapter in various versions to suit all common cleanroom ceiling systems. The manufacture of handcrafted hanging devices is finally a thing of the past. Installing or removing the sensor takes only seconds, and there is no need to dismantle separate electronics and wiring with this sensor. The completely sealed sensor can be sterilized in operation with alcohols and hydrogen peroxide. It is also notable that the sensor can measure very small flows starting from 0.05 m/s. Upon request, the sensor can be supplied with a traceable calibration certificate.
