Schütz acquires traditional manufacturer of cans and barrels

With the acquisition of GEM Plastics Limited, Schütz expands its product portfolio in the field of industrial packaging and further enhances its capabilities for customers in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Schütz GmbH & Co KGaA, a leading manufacturer of high-quality transport packaging, signed a purchase agreement last week for 100 percent of the shares in Irish GEM Plastics Limited. The company, based in Cavan, Republic of Ireland, has been producing plastic industrial packaging for over 30 years. Its primary customers include the chemical, lubricant, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. The extensive product range includes not only established plastic drums and cans but also specific packaging solutions tailored to individual customer needs.

Schütz has been present in the United Kingdom (Worksop) since 1992 and in Ireland (Killala) since 2000. From these two locations, customers are supplied promptly and flexibly with IBCs and plastic drums. With the acquisition of GEM Plastics Limited, the globally operating company in the field of industrial packaging significantly expands its product range for customers in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and beyond. In addition to the established product groups of IBCs and plastic drums, customers will now also benefit from a broad range of cans.
