Save the Date: "Plastics meet Medical Technology" in Leipzig

The Plastics Center in Leipzig gGmbH (KUZ) is hosting, in collaboration with the Biotechnological-Biomedical Center (BBZ) of the University of Leipzig and the Cluster for Biotechnology & Medical Technology in Saxony (biosaxony e.V.), the interdisciplinary conference "Plastics meet Medical Technology" in Leipzig. Participants can look forward to an exciting conference program with accompanying trade exhibition on January 31 and February 1, 2018. Companies from the plastics industry - processors, toolmakers, material and machinery manufacturers - as well as producers, suppliers, and service providers for medical devices will receive technical input and opportunities for exchange, including as exhibitors. Following this conference, there is a workshop on project development with the Saxony Economic Development Corporation (WFS), which is open to interested parties.

Theoretical requirements versus feasibility linked with practical experiences will be examined in expert lectures. The conference, after a general overview of the German medical technology market, focuses on the challenges and opportunities for plastics processors in the fields of medical technology and medical devices. The processing of special materials, such as bioresorbable and sterilizable plastics as well as silicones, plays an important role, as do plastic technological solutions for biomedical research. Specific requirements for the manufacturing process, such as cleanroom conditions, quality assurance, automation, sterilization, and certification, complement the main topics. The attractive supporting program includes, in addition to the trade exhibition, visits to two renowned research institutions in Leipzig specializing in plastics & medical technology (KUZ and BBZ). A workshop on collaboration approaches and an interesting evening program provide ample opportunities for discussions.
