Save the Date: "Micro Injection Molding Forum" – From the Idea to the Real Part
The Plastics Center in Leipzig (KUZ) is launching a new conference series dedicated specifically to micro injection molding. On November 24, 2016, the first "Micro Injection Molding Forum" will take place at KUZ under the motto "From the Idea to the Actual Part." The conference provides an interesting insight into the possibilities of micro plastic part manufacturing, covering considerations on part design with adjusted molding-to-part ratio, the use of suitable machine technology, and manufacturing in the required production environment.
The advancing technological development continuously opens up possibilities to produce components that are lighter and more compact. As many plastic parts are miniaturized, the demands on production processes increase, because small dimensions require the highest precision! This presents some challenges for manufacturers of small components. New concepts and solutions for production, including appropriate tooling, machine technology, and peripheral equipment, are needed. It is worthwhile to take a look at the numerous developments in technology and machine engineering, which have long since moved beyond the experimental stage, to gather ideas for your own production of small-shot weight parts.
The technical presentations will follow an exemplary micro component along the value chain, from product development to the finished injection-molded part. The manufacturing of this injection-molded micro component will be demonstrated live, showcasing the machine technology at the Application Center for Microplastic Technologies (MiKA) at KUZ.
