Sartorius and NIBRT announce partnership: Pioneering training center for intensified and continuous bioprocesses is being established

– Collaboration with the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training enables practical training in next-generation bioproduction
– Sartorius equips the center with Pionic platform for continuous processes across all production steps
– Partnership enhances global skills development and accelerates transition to more efficient and sustainable biopharmaceutical production

The life sciences company Sartorius and the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) are jointly establishing the world's most comprehensive training center for intensified and continuous bioprocesses in Dublin, Ireland. Starting in the fourth quarter of 2026, the center will serve as a hub for practical training and knowledge exchange. The goal is to support the biopharmaceutical industry in adopting intensified, digitalized, and continuous manufacturing processes.

As part of the collaboration, Sartorius is equipping NIBRT with the innovative Pionic technology, a modular platform for integrated continuous bioprocesses with advanced analytics and digital tools that comply with current Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines. Annually, more than 1,000 scientists, engineers, and students are expected to gain hands-on experience with intensified upstream and downstream processes, increasing efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability in the production of novel medicines.

The Process Intensification Training Center is aimed at professionals as well as academic partners in Ireland, Europe, and worldwide, and is intended to become a key component of NIBRT's global education network. Beyond training, the center will facilitate joint research projects and pilot-scale demonstrations, thereby contributing to strengthening the global bioproduction network.
