Hydrogen is one of the pioneers for a climate-neutral future and an important building block for the energy transition, also in the chemical and process industry. The extremely effective energy carrier can be stored long-term and used in numerous applications. However, production, storage, as well as transport and processing of hydrogen impose the highest demands on the plant and system components of the entire process chain.

For pressure relief management in hydrogen applications, Bormann & Neupert by BS&B offers a comprehensive portfolio: rupture discs, safety valves, flame arresters, tank protection valves, as well as explosion pressure relief devices protect plants and infrastructure from critical overpressure and underpressure or the consequences of an explosion. At the same time, they are permanently tight or leak-free and can be designed to withstand material fatigue caused by, for example, hydrogen embrittlement during operation.

Sustainable and reliable

The new "green" rupture disc LSR is of particular focus. Its manufacturing process is consistently designed for low resource consumption, fewer CO2 emissions, and low energy requirements. The quality assurance for the implementation of the sustainability strategy is provided by an EcoVadis rating.

Like all rupture discs from Bormann & Neupert by BS&B, the LSR is technically leak-free and designed for permanent process pressures close to the set pressure. In the event of a critical overpressure, it immediately and fragmentation-free releases the full relief cross-section. Besides hydrogen, it is suitable for nearly all corrosive liquid, gaseous, and multiphase media.

Comprehensive portfolio for safety

Protection against the dangers of fire or explosion for tank systems or complex piping systems is provided by flame arresters and tank protection valves of the type FlameSaf. In the event of a deflagration or detonation, they stop the flame front and thus prevent the fire from spreading. During normal operation, they ensure optimal flow behavior. The ATEX-certified explosion pressure relief devices VentSaf also reduce the effects of an explosion. In case of such events, they give way in a controlled manner and allow critical pressure, along with hot combustion gases and burnt or unburnt mixtures, to escape into a defined safety zone. This prevents damage and enables quick restart of the plant.
