SÜDPACK MEDICA invests massively in Erolzheim

Despite challenging conditions, a clear commitment to the Germany location and a signal to the industry: SÜDPACK MEDICA is expanding its production capacities at the Erolzheim site for its successful product PharmaGuard®. Another good news: The family-owned company is creating numerous new jobs in the region, while in Germany there are currently reports mainly of job cuts and production relocations abroad.

With the blister solution for tablets, SÜDPACK MEDICA has ushered in a new era in pharmaceutical packaging – and paved the way toward greater sustainability in the pharmaceutical industry. To meet the expected rising market demand in this new business area, production capacities are being massively expanded. The project in the municipality of Erolzheim in Biberach district is receiving consistently positive feedback. "We are very pleased that companies like SÜDPACK are investing in future topics such as pharmaceuticals and sustainability here in Erolzheim and are creating jobs," confirms Mayor Jochen Ackermann.

The first phase of expansion plans for 2026 includes the implementation of a new extrusion plant at the existing logistics site in Erolzheim. Once the building application is approved, the groundbreaking ceremony for an extension building, which will house the technology, will take place. The commissioning of the complex with initially around 50 additional employees is planned for 2027. Parallel to this, further investment phases are being prepared that will create even more jobs.

Besides the pleasantly constructive cooperation with local authorities and the attractive future prospects, the management states that "investments in the industrial location Germany are particularly interesting from SÜDPACK's perspective when it comes to highly innovative and demanding products such as PharmaGuard."
