SÜDPACK MEDICA – Pioneer in Sustainability

From January 24 to 25, 2024, SÜDPACK MEDICA will present itself at Pharmapack in Paris as a strong solution provider for the pharmaceutical industry. It will emphasize this not only at its booth D79 in Hall 7.2 but also in a workshop, with a clear focus on sustainable packaging solutions. In addition to the blister concept PharmaGuard®, the focus will also be on various pouch solutions as well as coextruded soft and hard films used for the production of sterilizable thermoformed packaging.

SÜDPACK MEDICA has addressed the topic of sustainability early on and is gradually aligning its portfolio with the new market requirements. The best example is PharmaGuard, a recyclable blister concept for solid applications, which was introduced to the market in early 2023 and was immediately awarded the "German Packaging Award" in the sustainability category. "With its excellent transparency, stable thermoforming and shrink behavior, and a wide sealing window, PharmaGuard is rightly regarded as a pioneering, recyclable blister packaging solution with strong future potential," emphasizes Jürgen Bodenmüller, Business Development Director at SÜDPACK MEDICA.

With PharmaGuard Advanced, the transition to processing polypropylene is further simplified

To facilitate the transition of the pharmaceutical industry from vinyl-based thermoforming films to the processing of PP-based blister films, SÜDPACK MEDICA has expanded the PharmaGuard portfolio with a variant that offers an even broader process window in thermoforming and sealing, providing significant advantages over conventional PP films. This is a major benefit and a clear improvement for companies with a variety of different blister machines, such as CDMOs.

Workshop on "PP-based blister films" for pharmaceuticals

On the first day of the trade fair, January 24, SÜDPACK MEDICA invites visitors to the "First choice PP for primary pharma packaging" workshop in rooms 725 / 726 at Paris Expo. Participants will receive further information on the ecological footprint of various packaging concepts as well as segment-specific solutions from PharmaGuard. A second focus will address how the pharmaceutical industry can significantly reduce its CO2 emissions in a safe and efficient manner and how to transition from a linear to a true circular economy. "As one of the leading manufacturers of high-performance films and packaging concepts, SÜDPACK actively shapes the transformation process in the packaging industry. And as a long-standing partner of the healthcare sector, we see it as our duty to support our customers as best as possible with our expertise and groundbreaking solutions into the future," emphasizes Jürgen Bodenmüller.

A strong portfolio for the pharmaceutical industry

SÜDPACK MEDICA also expects high visitor interest in the area of tubing and 3-edge seal pouches. "In recent years, we have invested heavily in corresponding systems to meet the increased demand for films and pouches that can be used at various points in the value chain of the pharmaceutical industry," says Jürgen Bodenmüller.

For packaging products such as stoppers, filters, or connectors, pouches are an optimal packaging concept. They are also suitable as simple media packaging and especially as transfer packaging for transporting from cleanroom to cleanroom or up to the point of use.

Last but not least, during Pharmapack, the focus will be on the coextruded soft and hard films from SÜDPACK MEDICA. These are used as bottom and lid films for the production of sterilizable thermoformed packaging and are equipped with various functionalities depending on the product.
