Robot sets new standards in cleanroom measurement

The revolution in cleanroom technology originates in Langen, Hesse: The engineers at InfraSolution AG have developed a novel, automated measurement system called RobotScan Flex, which offers unprecedented quality in conducting filter integrity tests. A robotic arm automatically scans vertical and horizontal end-stage filters and laminar flow units, in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. The intelligent software creates the necessary documentation and evaluations, and visualizes the measurement results in the form of an electronic test protocol.

RobotScan Flex consists of three parts, making it mobile and easy to operate. An employee can easily transport, assemble, disassemble, operate, and clean the robot alone. The measurement results are securely archived against manipulation, and the internal database system supports the user in setting up all initial and subsequent measurements with many useful functions. The simple operation and electronic documentation will set a new standard for filter integrity testing. "With RobotScan Flex, we bring FilterScan 4.0 with reproducible measurement results of unprecedented precision into the cleanroom—and save valuable time in the process," explains Mathias Itter, CEO and CTO of InfraSolution AG.

The application areas are diverse: in medical technology, microelectronics, optics and photonics, or in the production of pharmaceuticals and medicines—requirements for manufacturing in cleanrooms are becoming increasingly complex across many industries. Companies must comply with standards and guidelines while simultaneously increasing their efficiency in the face of rising costs. This can only be achieved through the use of intelligent automation solutions.

Even during the prototype presentation, RobotScan Flex attracted a lot of attention and was awarded the Cleanroom Award 2015 by industry experts. The market-ready serial version will be presented to the public for the first time at Lounge 2017 in Stuttgart.
