Gas-tight shut-off valve of RICO Sicherheitstechnik AG

At this year's POWTECH, which opens its doors from September 27 to 29 in Nuremberg, visitors can learn about gas-tight air shut-off dampers and the REDisc overpressure valve at RICO Sicherheitstechnik AG in Hall 3A, Stand 341. The latter is the newest member of the RICO portfolio and is primarily used in isolators to ensure pressure equalization in the event of increased overpressure. The solution offers maximum safety due to its reliable opening and 100% gas tightness, in accordance with DIN 12266-1 Leak Rate A. A special feature of REDisc compared to other overpressure valves is the connection flanges: In addition to a version as an intermediate flange (EN 1092-1 / PN10 - PN40), a Tri-Clamp variant compatible with DIN 32676, Series A, is also available. During development, this addressed the requirements of numerous isolator manufacturers—especially in the pharmaceutical sector—allowing for quick, hygienic, and straightforward installation. REDisc also offers economic advantages and distinguishes itself from competitors in the market. The operation of the overpressure valve is based on a mechanical principle. When overpressure occurs, the closing body is moved from the closed to the open position by the pressure, allowing it to escape. When the pressure drops again, the valve closes automatically. The solution is primarily suitable for use in production areas where clean, filtered air flows. Since REDisc is made of stainless steel and anodized aluminum, it has the necessary durability for use in the pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, it offers a high degree of flexibility, as the overpressure valve can be adapted or configured to meet various user requirements.

RICO Sicherheitstechnik AG also provides information about their products for gas-tight air sealing at the trade fair stand. These are suitable for different pressure ranges and safety requirements in laboratories, isolators, BSL3 and BSL4 biosafety laboratories, as well as nuclear power plants (HEPA filter systems). "Especially the fact that we can also offer our air shut-off dampers in the ATEX version 'non-ignition source'—also with accessories with SIL level—will be of great interest to visitors," says Mario Allgäuer, member of the management, head of R&D, SCM, and production at RICO. The air shut-off dampers control dust-free air flows arbitrarily and are capable of sealing lines 100% gas-tight. Depending on the application, customers can choose between different housings, flap discs, and sealing materials. The drive can also be manual, pneumatic, or electric, depending on the requirements. All air shut-off dampers impress with their compact and lightweight design and are available with the unique market-leading PERFEKT test groove. This allows the tightness of the damper to be tested even in the installed state using a hand pump. If a leak is present, significant time can be saved by checking it in the installed state.
