Industrial floors demand a lot: safety for highly developed technical equipment, extreme wear resistance, chemical resistance, optimal cleaning behavior, ergonomic design for employees, and much more. In this demanding market, especially high-performance products like the rubber flooring from nora systems are in demand. They are found worldwide in numerous industrial facilities: in production and assembly halls, cleanrooms, ESD areas, laboratories, and research institutions, as well as in offices and administrative buildings.

nora flooring is "Made in Germany" and is manufactured from high-quality industrial and natural rubbers. Their high quality makes them extremely durable against abrasion and wear. Even after decades of use in high-traffic areas, they still look almost new. This unusually long service life significantly contributes to the economic efficiency and long-term value retention of properties.

Customized solutions for every project

In industrial buildings with their complex requirements for design and function, the advantages of rubber as a material come fully into play. For example, nora flooring offers the possibility to realize uniform design concepts across different areas with various functional properties. Architects and planners can choose from more than 300 color, design, and surface variants in the standard range. Individual wishes can always be fulfilled: more than two-thirds of all orders are custom-made for nora systems. Whether a specific color is desired or the surface texture of a rubber coating is to be combined with the technical properties of another – the nora team enables tailored solutions.

A flooring in expressive accent colors that emphasizes the innovative room concept was envisioned by the designers of the agency Bright 3D for the design of the offices of Europe's largest flight search engine Skyscanner in Edinburgh, Scotland. Important to the planners was also good room acoustics, as around 300 people work in the open-plan office. Bright 3D chose the rubber flooring norament 975 LL in serra design with relief surface, but preferred the colors of the flooring norament 926 crossline, exclusively designed by designer Lars Contzen for nora systems. No problem for nora: now, norament serra in special colors pink, green, and turquoise creates a trendy atmosphere and maximum comfort in the Skyscanner office.

ESD protection for sensitive manufacturing areas

Even when specific technical properties such as electrostatic discharge capability are required, nora flooring scores points: For years, Keinath Electronic GmbH, a leading technology consultant for companies in the electronics industry in the fields of ESD protection and soldering technology, has recommended products from nora systems. "Rubber coatings, due to their material properties, generate low potential on humans and dissipate electrostatic charges, thus protecting sensitive electronic devices," explains Stefan Proba, technical manager and accredited ESD consultant at Keinath. During the renovation of their own corporate headquarters, Keinath also chose nora flooring again and decided on norament 928 grano ed, a product very frequently chosen in the electronics industry.

Safety for cleanrooms

For cleanrooms where research and production take place in the pharmaceutical, medical technology, as well as food and feed industries, the Weinheim-based rubber specialist also offers the ideal solution. The requirements for flooring in this area are extremely high: low particle emissions, pore-free surface, slip resistance, resistance to static and dynamic loads, and very good cleaning and disinfection properties. Selected nora flooring has been tested by the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Automation and certified as suitable up to ISO Class 2 or GMP Class A. Additionally, they are highly resistant to biological contamination, chemicals, and disinfectants.

Light and economical cleaning

No matter the industrial sector: thanks to their resistant, abrasion-proof surface, nora rubber coatings are easy to clean, as they do not require a coating due to their extremely dense surface. This has several advantages. For example, unlike coated floors, no unsightly tracks form on heavily frequented walkways. But even more importantly: coatings of other elastic flooring types need to be renewed at short intervals because they wear out quickly. This is not only expensive but also causes significant operational disruptions during renovation periods.

Even in heavily frequented production areas, on stairs, and in hallways, the unique rubber surface proves its durability and good cleaning properties. This is also confirmed by Thomas Volk, project manager for construction at Bosch in Facility Management in Abstatt: "The floor we installed in 2004 is still almost unchanged today in the technical rooms. That’s why, in 2009, it was clear to us that the new extension of the development center should also have nora rubber floors." Overall, there are now 16,000 square meters of this flooring in various areas. An area as large as about two football fields, which withstands the highest demands daily.
