Country reports on heat pumps are now available on the European Heat Pump Summit website, providing information on heat pump markets in European countries. “The country reports summarize the most important data and facts. They offer the heat pump industry detailed information on market development and potential in a compact format,” explains event manager Gabriele Hannwacker from NürnbergMesse. The Finland country report is already available for free download online, with additional country reports to follow by the start of the two-day heat pump event on October 15, 2013. The European Heat Pump Summit – powered by Chillventa – will bring industry experts together for the third time at the Nürnberg Exhibition Center.

The series of country reports begins with a look at a country that has established a reputation as a pioneer in renewable energy use: located in the far north of Europe, Finland has a consistently cool climate with average annual temperatures of less than 2°C. Since energy consumption for heating is significantly higher than in other European countries, heat pumps are an energy-efficient heating solution, although the Finnish cold presents special conditions for the heat pump technology used.

The national market for heat pumps has grown by up to 30 percent annually in recent years, so that today, heat pumps already supply more than 10.2 percent of the thermal energy for residential buildings, commercial properties, and public buildings. Relative to the population, Finland ranks at the top internationally. Finnish heat pump experts from the industry association SULPU expect the number of heat pumps to continue rising. They anticipate that by 2020, growth to one million heat pumps is possible.
