They are tiny, invisible to the human eye, yet immensely dangerous for sensitive systems: dirt particles measuring around 100 µm can cause significant damage or even complete system failures in industries such as automotive manufacturing, medical technology, or food processing. A particular vulnerability in production is the transport of a component to the next processing step. Existing protective methods, such as the "onion skin principle," where components are layered in packaging during manufacturing, are costly and especially time-consuming. To close this gap in the process chain, Kögel GmbH, based in Oberderdingen, Baden-Württemberg, has developed the cleanroom transport trolley system PUROS. This significantly simplifies the logistics and cleaning process of demanding industrial parts and reliably protects sensitive products during transport and storage from contamination.

The PUROS series by Kögel includes three different transport trolley families tailored to the specific requirements of various industries: the PUROS Basic, the PUROS Advanced, and the PUROS Science. All three can be successfully integrated as standalone protection systems into any logistics chain, ensuring clean and safe transport (see image No. 6). Users thus have the opportunity not only to improve their production workflows but also to prevent damages caused by contamination from the outset. Thanks to its particularly robust construction, the transport trolleys can be stored on Euro pallets and are therefore suitable for both internal and external transport.

PUROS Basic: Safe, flexible, and easy to handle

For transporting workpieces with low cleanliness requirements, Kögel offers the PUROS Basic trolley. It consists of a mobile plastic base plate and three centrally clamped side walls made of galvanized steel (see image No. 1). Optionally, up to four wire mesh compartments can be hung in the side walls, allowing small-volume parts to be transported securely. The maximum load per level is 40 kilograms. The permissible total weight is 200 kilograms. Depending on cleaning and environmental conditions, users also have the option to attach a drip tray to the bottom of the trolley to protect items from swirling dust. The waterproof nylon cover with double-sided zipper prevents recontamination of cleaned items. PUROS Basic also features a document compartment for accompanying papers or trolley labeling.

PUROS Advanced: Customizable interior design for every requirement

To transport more demanding and sensitive components as safely and hygienically as possible, Kögel's PUROS Advanced trolley is suitable. It is made from anodized aluminum or high-quality stainless steel and equipped with ergonomic handles that allow push and pull operation (see image No. 2). The permissible total weight is 250 kilograms. Two steering and two fixed rollers arranged at the corners ensure particularly smooth maneuverability. The fully enclosed design and the two swinging doors, with lever lock and continuous rubber seal, optimally protect the contents from external contamination. To prevent unauthorized opening, additional sealing or the installation of a lock is possible. The interior of PUROS Advanced can be specifically adapted to the respective requirements. Kögel offers two variants of this series: the height-adjustable version with a fixed inner frame and the "trolley within a trolley" solution, where the user can easily remove the entire inner trolley as a whole. PUROS Advanced impresses with a wide range of accessories, such as drawbar and coupling, label holder frame, special rollers and labeling panels, or a roof rack for individual customization.

PUROS Science: Optimal protection for highly sensitive components

The innovative cleanroom transport trolley system PUROS Science, developed by Kögel in collaboration with M+W Products, is a so-called exhaust air system (see image No. 3). Air is drawn in from outside and pushed into the interior through a pre-filter and a HEPA filter (see image No. 4). The air then exits through openings in the sides and the bottom of the trolley. These trolleys are especially suitable for transporting highly demanding and sensitive items between different production and/or cleanroom areas. They feature, among other things, a sound-insulated cover with an integrated filter-ventilator unit and control unit to supply clean air. The incoming filtered air creates an overpressure inside the trolley of up to 90 Pascals, ensuring that even when the double doors are opened for loading and unloading, the contents are protected from re-contamination by particles from the environment. The interior is turbulently ventilated, with adjustable air baffles ensuring optimal airflow (see image No. 5). The key advantage: users can not only use the trolley for transport or storage but also benefit from the targeted ventilation process to achieve faster cooling. Small parts coming from the cleaning system, which can reach temperatures of up to 70°C, can thus be stored directly and reliably shielded from tiny dirt particles. In conventional production, this step often leads to contamination of highly sensitive items, as they are frequently stored on shelves in industrial halls during cooling, coming into contact with contaminated ambient air. Costly cooling tunnels at cleaning systems or component re-packaging can be eliminated with PUROS Science, while significantly increasing flexibility.

Continuous protection throughout the entire logistics chain

The Kögel PUROS transport trolley features a flexible interior. The wire mesh shelves can be adjusted in a 130-millimeter grid, ensuring that items of various sizes are securely held during transport. The PUROS Science is designed for a total weight of 250 kilograms and equipped with steering and fixed rollers that ensure smooth rolling behavior. Thanks to its particularly robust construction from aluminum or stainless steel, the trolley is suitable for both internal and external transport. Its intelligent design also allows for easy cleaning and disinfection of the interior.
