At SOLIDS 2023, Bormann & Neupert by BS&B presents its ATEX-certified explosion protection rupture discs Vent-Saf. They economically protect process engineering plants from the pressure loads caused by explosions.

Increased safety in flammable atmospheres: The explosion protection rupture discs Vent-Saf from Bormann & Neupert by BS&B GmbH reliably and cost-effectively contain the dangers of stirred-up, combustible dust. As passive components with simple yet highly precise design and functionality, they are almost maintenance-free and inexpensive to purchase and install. Vent-Saf act as a predetermined weak point that, in case of an incident, releases in a controlled manner and allows the explosion pressure, along with hot combustion gases and burnt or unburnt mixture, to escape into a defined safety zone. Thanks to quick re-commissioning, Vent-Saf ensure the productivity and functionality of process engineering plants and also protect people and the environment.

Reliable, easy to install, economical

The explosion protection rupture discs are among the easiest to install pressure relief devices on the market—especially in the version with an integrated mounting frame. Their very flat design also makes handling straightforward, simple, and quick. Once installed, Vent-Saf reliably protect due to their quick response and the sudden release of a large relief opening. To ensure a perfect fit, Bormann & Neupert by BS&B offers the explosion protection rupture discs in numerous sizes and with response pressures ranging from 20 to 350 millibar.

The standard material for Vent-Saf is stainless steel AISI 304L; for highly corrosive media, materials such as Hastelloy, Inconel, or Monel are also available. The seals are designed as EPDM foam seals—special sealing materials can withstand process temperatures over 250 °C permanently or meet special hygiene requirements. Optional versions also incorporate electrical isolation, weather protection, integrity sensors, or a customer-specific hole pattern.

The application possibilities for Vent-Saf include all scenarios where dust-forming substances pose a hazard. This is the case, for example, in the production of food and animal feed, in woodworking, as well as in pharmaceuticals or the coal industry.
