Doctor's offices, pharmacies, blood banks, hospitals, and laboratories require specialized cooling and freezing cabinets. Inside, they store medications, blood samples, and vaccines — demanding a constant temperature, low noise, and high reliability. In cooling and freezing cabinets from Kirsch Medical, compact DC axial fans from ebm-papst ensure reliable cooling.

In Willstätt-Sand near Offenburg, Baden-Württemberg, Kirsch Medical manufactures freezers and refrigerators with 80 employees for particularly sensitive goods. The temperature range extends from +5 °C to -41 °C: medications are stored at +5 °C, blood at +4 °C, while blood plasma requires a constant temperature of -32 °C for storage. Depending on the required temperature range, the devices are also used for storing COVID-19 vaccines.

Limited space – high performance

The requirements for fans in cooling and freezing units are high: compact and powerful. The fans from ebm-papst ensure that air circulates evenly within the refrigerator. Since the fans are installed in the air duct of the cabinets, space is limited. Kirsch Medical relies on compact and especially flat axial fans from the S-Panther series by ebm-papst. Depending on the size of the recirculating freezer and refrigerator, one or two ebm-papst DC axial fans with diameters of 80 to 120 mm are used, achieving airflow rates of up to 205 m³/h.

Quiet and versatile

In addition to performance, low noise levels are also important, as the units are often located close to workstations, such as nurses' stations or laboratories. The DC fans are equipped with a thermal signal and are variably speed-controlled.

Full control

When storing medications, vaccines, or blood plasma, reliability is also crucial. Kirsch uses server-based software for monitoring and documentation, recording operational data to detect malfunctions early and send alarm signals. The speed-controlled GreenIntelligence fans from ebm-papst also assist in this: if the required constant speed is not maintained, they automatically trigger an alarm. This allows for quick response in emergencies and protection of valuable goods.
