Red Dot Design Award for timeless design that captures the spirit of the times

For its outstanding product design, the rubber flooring norament castello was awarded the coveted Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021. The flooring, which was only introduced in January of this year, was able to convince the international panel of experts through the combination of high aesthetics and unique functionality. Creatives and manufacturers from around 60 countries submitted a total of more than 6,500 designs for this product competition – the most in the history of the award.

Floor for a representative ambiance, combined with comfort

The award-winning flooring supports modern architectural concepts with its purist-minimalist look. The lightly marbled square tiles with the new Two-Tone surface and the original design, inspired by concrete and limestone, reflect current trends, but at the same time appear timeless due to their restrained appearance and integrate perfectly into any environment. The rubber floor is as robust as it is durable and offers all the advantages of an elastic covering, such as excellent ergonomic and acoustic properties. The color palette of norament castello includes eight warm shades of gray and beige. The gray tones appear noble and unobtrusively elegant – they recede into the background and thus highlight other colors. The earth and beige tones give rooms a cozy, homely atmosphere and create a pleasant feel-good ambiance.

Acknowledgment for creative ideas

The Red Dot Design Award is internationally recognized as one of the most prestigious awards for design quality. Following the guiding principle "In search of good design and creativity," design professionals from around 25 nations evaluate the usefulness, functionality, and degree of innovation of the submitted products. "Never before in the more than 60-year history of our design competition have so many companies and design studios faced the professional judgment of our international jury as this year," says Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Design Award. Bettina Haffelder, Vice President of nora DACH, is pleased about the recognition: "With norament castello, we have succeeded in combining functionality and design at the highest level," she is convinced. This is the second Red Dot Design Award for nora rubber floors: previously, the flooring noraplan unita received the coveted award for its outstanding material combination of rubber and granite chips.

The winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 are celebrated during a festival week that begins with the award ceremony on June 21. Followers and award winners can look forward to five days that focus on good design – whether online or on-site in Essen. Afterwards, the awarded products – including the rubber flooring "Made in Weinheim" – will be presented in a four-week special exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen. With over 2,000 exhibits on more than 4,000 square meters, the museum in the former boiler house of Zeche Zollverein showcases the world's largest exhibition of contemporary design.
