Quickly find and order linear modules with the drive technology configurator from igus
New online tool helps with configuring an individual and maintenance-free linear drive system
Spindle, rack and pinion, or belt drive? Miniature or heavy-duty axle? Motor or handwheel? Finding the right linear module is time-consuming. That's exactly why igus has now developed the drive technology configurator. The smart product finder shows the customer – after entering the application parameters – all suitable drylin drive technology solutions, including lifespan. Depending on the filter settings, the user can choose the optimal linear module system for them and further configure and order it with compatible accessories such as motor and control system.
To help customers quickly find the right linear module for their application, igus now offers its new free drive technology configurator. The online tool makes, based solely on data about the application—such as installation position, load, stroke height, speed, and self-locking—appropriate product suggestions that meet all the technical requirements of the customer. “The special feature is that, using our test data from our in-house laboratory, we can make a lifespan statement for each linear module as well as the motor load in the individual application and display this online. This way, the customer can be sure that the module will operate reliably and maintenance-free in their machine and system,” explains Michael Hornung, Product Manager drylin International at igus GmbH. Additional filter options, for example for special operating conditions such as high temperatures or use in the food industry, allow the selection to be further customized. Afterwards, the user can equip their module with suitable accessories according to their wishes. From manual operation with a handwheel to the appropriate motor and control system, everything is possible. “By displaying and selecting only compatible products, the user can be assured of receiving a directly connectable linear module,” says Michael Hornung. The price is automatically calculated and displayed within the application. This allows the impact of the selected options to be weighed in terms of cost. Time losses due to inquiries are eliminated. In the final step, the configuration can be saved or forwarded, the parts list and technical information downloaded, and the linear module ordered with a single click.
drylin SLN: Small linear module for big tasks
With drylin drive technology, igus offers linear modules for a wide range of applications. Whether for format adjustments in the packaging industry, for measurement in inspection and testing automation, or for setting laser marking systems. The core of all systems is self-lubricating plain bearings made from igus high-performance polymers. They are characterized by a long, predictable lifespan, maintenance-free operation, corrosion resistance, precision, and high reliability. Among the portfolio of linear modules is the drylin SLN. The miniature linear module is designed for the smallest installation spaces and runs on the slim drylin N linear guide from igus. The user can choose between three carriage versions and a ball or plain bearing spindle in the compact series. The module is used, among other things, in laboratory analysis systems, pipetting technology, and sensor technology. Everywhere where handling in the smallest installation space is required.
