Quick, beautiful, and smart

You are smart, quiet, and incredibly fast: 30 high-speed industrial doors from EFAFLEX ensure smooth logistics processes at the corporate headquarters of ORAFOL Europe GmbH in Oranienburg near Berlin. Inside the production halls, the crystal-clear door panels provide high transparency and a lot of daylight.

Surrounded by green spaces and tall trees, the highly modern building complex of the ORAFOL corporate headquarters is located slightly outside. Silver, white, and gray tones shine in the sun, demonstrating that the supplier of graphic and reflective films for high-end customers has a good sense of aesthetics.  

However, for production and storage, the right technical equipment is especially crucial. "All halls are conditioned for production at 21 degrees Celsius," explains Steffen Winkler, Mechanic Maintenance and Facility Manager at ORAFOL. "They are pressurized to keep the rooms particle-free. The films must be absolutely dust-free." The cleanroom doors from EFAFLEX (EFA-STT® CR) meet the requirements perfectly: When one of the sluice doors opens, the air is displaced from the hall by the overpressure of about eight Pascals, preventing a particle-contaminated airflow from entering the production or storage rooms.  

Since 2018, the new Hall 11 in Oranienburg has been in operation. "We were looking for larger pressure-resistant doors," reports Steffen Winkler. "These work great; our systems run almost continuously except for two days a year, so the doors are highly frequented." Recently, they have not only the EFA Tronic Professional control system but also an additional EFA-Connect module. "Initially, only EFAFLEX could change the door functions when needed, and a technician had to come to our plant," explains Daniel Frank, Building Automation and Power-Operated Doors Technician. "With EFA-Connect, I can now control the doors myself in the shortest possible time directly on-site via the iPad or change their functions." Traffic lights regulate entry and exit.

But not only cleanroom doors are used at ORAFOL. Other doors separate different production areas. "For example, during the drying of the films, a lot of heat is generated, which is rather undesirable in other complexes," says Daniel Frank. Here, hermetic sealing and good insulation are required, as provided by the EFA-SST Premium from EFAFLEX.  

Visually, the doors blend seamlessly into the modern design of the buildings both indoors and outdoors. While the transparent interior doors let in a lot of light, making the rooms appear large, airy, and modern, the exterior doors are almost invisible. The color of the slats and frames is matched to the RAL tone of the walls, so they seem to merge with the facade. "Our management places great importance on an aesthetic overall appearance of our plant," explains Daniel Frank. "This starts with extending the green belt surrounding the premises, which belongs to a drinking water catchment area, all the way to the halls." He gestures with his hand in a semicircle around the hall, and it is quite obvious that the company has invested good ideas and money into designing the extensive outdoor facilities. "With the color design of the facade, the planners have coordinated the plant grounds with the natural surroundings of the corporate headquarters. We are glad that EFAFLEX offers such a wide variety of colors for the door panels."

In recent years, there have been many changes on the company premises, say Steffen Winkler and Daniel Frank. Several new halls have been added, and the next is already under construction. Doors from EFAFLEX will also be used in this building to ensure a secure hall closure and to insulate specific production areas.

Product Information EFA-STT® CR

With the transparent cleanroom door EFA-STT® CR, the door manufacturer EFAFLEX offers a solution for processes where speed and rooms with pressure differences are important. Thanks to the patented spiral, this high-speed door reliably opens and closes at up to 2.5 m/s. It is especially suitable when pressure and atmosphere exchange need to be minimized, for example in inerting for dry fire prevention. The higher airtightness compared to a standard EFA-STT® is achieved in the cleanroom version through a so-called labyrinth seal.

The solid door leaf, consisting of two outer guides and single-layer transparent slats, is kept at a distance when rolled up on the patented door spiral. This ensures that the EFA-STT® CR series remains transparent for years, even with door sizes of 4x5 meters.

The high-performance EFA-STT® CR turbo high-speed door with electromechanical drive is preferred in cleanrooms up to ISO Class 8 and in material sluices. For pressure differences of up to 30 Pa, the air loss is only up to 50 m³/h, depending on size and installation side.
All galvanized steel parts can be coated in any desired RAL color.
