With a quickly assembled assortment of various visualization and protection products, the trading house Kager aims to contribute to containing the Corona crisis. The offer includes, in addition to fever measurement strips and face masks, various indicators for disinfection and sterilization as well as particle-catching and device fixation mats. The company primarily targets diagnostic laboratories, practices, and clinics. However, it also supplies industrial companies if needed.

"We have many products in our range that can currently support employees in laboratories, clinics, and medical practices. Although we are not a traditional medical device supplier, we want to contribute to overcoming the Corona crisis," says Claudia Berck, the owner of the traditional trading house Kager. Together with her team, the company head has therefore put together a Corona-specific portfolio that can be ordered immediately. In addition to fever measurement strips and a face field mask, this includes disinfection and sterilization indicators as well as particle-catching mats for laboratory airlocks and anti-slip films for fixing laboratory devices.

Measuring fever and protecting the face

The fever measurement strips of the type Clinitrend are latex-free adhesive labels with a liquid crystal display scale (20°C - 41°C). They are simply applied to the patient's forehead and visualize their body temperature within seconds through a moving color line. The result is clearly readable, considered reliable, and has proven effective in clinical operations – especially in the treatment of intensive care patients. Since the display is reversible, the fever measurement strips can be reused after sterilization. The Kager face shield, on the other hand, is an individually adjustable solution made of transparent film and plastic ring, which can be ready for use with just a few hand movements. "The shield does not replace the respiratory mask but serves as an additional safety barrier for staff in clinics, laboratories, testing stations, and practices – especially in situations where maintaining minimum distances between medical staff and patients is not always feasible," says Claudia Berck.

Disinfecting and sterilizing

The thermal disinfection indicators (T.D.I.) from Kager are small labels used in clinical hygiene processes. They are applied directly to the objects to be treated and provide information on whether the necessary temperature has been reached during chemical-thermal or thermal disinfection. These indicators feature an irreversible three-field scale (65°C / 71°C / 82°C), which indicates with an accuracy of ± 1°C. These disinfection indicators can also be used in laboratory, gastronomic, and industrial cleaning technology.

Specifically designed for sterilization with up to 134°C hot steam are the sterilization indicators D.S.I. from Kager. These are also labels that can be applied manually or with an application gun to the objects to be treated. The DSI comply with DIN EN ISO 11140-1 (Type 1) and show a clear, irreversible color change indicating whether the desired sterilization temperature has been reached – or not.

The range of Kager also includes self-adhesive liquid crystal indicators of the type TLC for monitoring cold, heat, and temperature values in laboratory and medical technology. These reversible measurement strips and dots are available in numerous variants with different scales for various temperature ranges and are suitable for use in many cooling and heating processes.

Ensuring hygiene and germ-free conditions

Additionally included in Kager's Corona portfolio are two practical aids for laboratory and practice operations. One is a dark blue particle-catching mat made of elastic styrene-butadiene material, which can reduce microbial contamination in the airlock and corridor zones of laboratories and intensive care units; the other is thin anti-slip films with particularly high coefficients of friction, which securely fix vibrating and rotating diagnostic and measuring devices and dampen operational noise. They are made of colored polyvinyl chloride (PVC), are chemically resistant, and easy to disinfect. "Both the particle-catching mats and the anti-slip films can also be supplied in custom sizes," says company owner Claudia Berck.

Additionally, there is a discounted emergency aid set including thermal disinfection indicators (10 pieces), fever measurement strips (10 pieces), a face field mask, and a particle-catching floor mat. "We do not want to profit from the crisis but aim to provide honest and quick support to our Corona heroes in clinics, laboratories, and practices," emphasizes Claudia Berck.
